Book Synopsis Manufacturing Simulation with Plant Simulation and Simtalk by : Steffen Bangsow
Download or read book Manufacturing Simulation with Plant Simulation and Simtalk written by Steffen Bangsow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-29 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the competition of international production networks, the pressure to - crease the efficiency of production systems has increased significantly. In ad- tion, the number of technical components in many products and as a consequence also the requirements for corresponding assembly processes and logistics pr- esses increases. International logistics networks require corresponding logistics concepts. These requirements can be managed only by using appropriate Digital Factory tools in the context of a product lifecycle management environment, which allows reusing data, supports an effective cooperation between different departments, and provides up-to-date and relevant data to every user who needs it. Simulating the complete material flow including all relevant production, st- age, and transport activities is recognized as a key component of the Digital F- tory in the industry and as of today widely used and accepted. Cutting inventory and throughput time by 20–60% and enhancing the productivity of existing p- duction facilities by 15–20% can be achieved in real-life projects.

Book Synopsis Unit Manufacturing Processes by : National Research Council
Download or read book Unit Manufacturing Processes written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1995-01-03 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manufacturing, reduced to its simplest form, involves the sequencing of product forms through a number of different processes. Each individual step, known as an unit manufacturing process, can be viewed as the fundamental building block of a nation's manufacturing capability. A committee of the National Research Council has prepared a report to help define national priorities for research in unit processes. It contains an organizing framework for unit process families, criteria for determining the criticality of a process or manufacturing technology, examples of research opportunities, and a prioritized list of enabling technologies that can lead to the manufacture of products of superior quality at competitive costs. The study was performed under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation and the Defense Department's Manufacturing Technology Program.

Book Synopsis Modeling, Simulation, and Control of Flexible Manufacturing Systems by : MengChu Zhou
Download or read book Modeling, Simulation, and Control of Flexible Manufacturing Systems written by MengChu Zhou and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1999 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One critical barrier leading to successful implementation of flexible manufacturing and related automated systems is the ever-increasing complexity of their modeling, analysis, simulation, and control. Research and development over the last three decades has provided new theory and graphical tools based on Petri nets and related concepts for the design of such systems. The purpose of this book is to introduce a set of Petri-net-based tools and methods to address a variety of problems associated with the design and implementation of flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs), with several implementation examples. There are three ways this book will directly benefit readers. First, the book will allow engineers and managers who are responsible for the design and implementation of modern manufacturing systems to evaluate Petri nets for applications in their work. Second, it will provide sufficient breadth and depth to allow development of Petri-net-based industrial applications. Third, it will allow the basic Petri net material to be taught to industrial practitioners, students, and academic researchers much more efficiently. This will foster further research and applications of Petri nets in aiding the successful implementation of advanced manufacturing systems.
Book Synopsis Simulation of Additive Manufacturing using Meshfree Methods by : Christian Weißenfels
Download or read book Simulation of Additive Manufacturing using Meshfree Methods written by Christian Weißenfels and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-29 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a detailed instruction to virtually reproduce the processes of Additive Manufacturing on a computer. First, all mathematical equations needed to model these processes are presented. Due to their flexibility, meshfree methods represent optimal computational solution schemes to simulate Additive Manufacturing processes. On the other hand, these methods usually do not guarantee an accurate solution. For this reason, this monograph is dedicated in detail to the necessary criteria for computational solution schemes to provide accurate results. Several meshfree methods are examined with respect to these conditions. Two different 3D printing techniques are presented in detail. The results obtained from the simulation are investigated and compared with experimental data. This work is addressed to both scientists and professionals working in the field of development who are interested to learn the secrets behind meshfree methods or get into the modeling of Additive Manufacturing.

Book Synopsis Multiscale Simulation Approach for Battery Production Systems by : Malte Schönemann
Download or read book Multiscale Simulation Approach for Battery Production Systems written by Malte Schönemann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-05 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addressing the challenge of improving battery quality while reducing high costs and environmental impacts of the production, this book presents a multiscale simulation approach for battery production systems along with a software environment and an application procedure. Battery systems are among the most important technologies of the 21st century since they are enablers for the market success of electric vehicles and stationary energy storage solutions. However, the performance of batteries so far has limited possible applications. Addressing this challenge requires an interdisciplinary understanding of dynamic cause-effect relationships between processes, equipment, materials, and environmental conditions. The approach in this book supports the integrated evaluation of improvement measures and is usable for different planning horizons. It is applied to an exemplary battery cell production and module assembly in order to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential benefits of the simulation.
Book Synopsis Modeling and Simulation for Microelectronic Packaging Assembly by : Shen Liu
Download or read book Modeling and Simulation for Microelectronic Packaging Assembly written by Shen Liu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-08-24 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although there is increasing need for modeling and simulation in the IC package design phase, most assembly processes and various reliability tests are still based on the time consuming "test and try out" method to obtain the best solution. Modeling and simulation can easily ensure virtual Design of Experiments (DoE) to achieve the optimal solution. This has greatly reduced the cost and production time, especially for new product development. Using modeling and simulation will become increasingly necessary for future advances in 3D package development. In this book, Liu and Liu allow people in the area to learn the basic and advanced modeling and simulation skills to help solve problems they encounter. Models and simulates numerous processes in manufacturing, reliability and testing for the first time Provides the skills necessary for virtual prototyping and virtual reliability qualification and testing Demonstrates concurrent engineering and co-design approaches for advanced engineering design of microelectronic products Covers packaging and assembly for typical ICs, optoelectronics, MEMS, 2D/3D SiP, and nano interconnects Appendix and color images available for download from the book's companion website Liu and Liu have optimized the book for practicing engineers, researchers, and post-graduates in microelectronic packaging and interconnection design, assembly manufacturing, electronic reliability/quality, and semiconductor materials. Product managers, application engineers, sales and marketing staff, who need to explain to customers how the assembly manufacturing, reliability and testing will impact their products, will also find this book a critical resource.
