Download or read book Simulation des systèmes électroniques de puissance : une approche mécatronique written by Dan Telteu-Nedelcu and published by Presses univ. de Louvain. This book was released on 2004 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Conception systémique pour la conversion d'énergie électrique 2 : approche intégrée par optimisation written by ROBOAM Xavier and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2008 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Topology Simplification Algorithm for the Segmentation of Medical Scans by : Sylvain Jaume
Download or read book Topology Simplification Algorithm for the Segmentation of Medical Scans written by Sylvain Jaume and published by Presses univ. de Louvain. This book was released on 2004 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computed Tomography, and other image modalities are routinely used to visualize a particular structure in the patient's body. The classification of the image region corresponding to this structure is called segmentation. For applications in Neuroscience, it is important for the segmentation of a brain scan to represent the boundary of the brain as a single folded sheet. However the segmentation of the brain generally exhibits many erroneous holes. Consequently we have developed an algorithm for automatically removing holes in segmented medical scans while preserving the accuracy of the image. Upon concepts of Discrete Topology, we correct the holes based on the smallest modification to the image. First we detect each hole with a front propagation and a Reeb graph. Then we search for a number of loops around the hole on the isosurface of the image. Finally we select the loop that minimizes the modification to the image and correct the hole in the image. At each step we limit the size of the data in memory. With these contributions our algorithm removes every hole in the image with high accuracy and low complexity even for images that do not fit into the main memory. To help doctors and scientists to obtain segmentations without holes, we make our software publicly available.
Book Synopsis Modeling and Design of Microwave Devices Based on Ferromagnetic Nanowires by : Aimad Saib
Download or read book Modeling and Design of Microwave Devices Based on Ferromagnetic Nanowires written by Aimad Saib and published by Presses univ. de Louvain. This book was released on 2004 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As wireless communication systems are flourishing and operating frequencies are progressively increasing, there exists nowadays a strong demand for RF devices at millimeter wavelengths. Nonmetallic ferromagnetic materials, also called ferrites, have found wide applications in RF technology as they possess the combined properties of a magnetic material and an electrical insulator. The remarkable flexibility in tailoring the magnetic properties, the very high resistivity, price and performance considerations make ferrites the first choice materials for microwave applications. However, the frequency range of operation, the bandwidth, and the aptitude to be integrated in MMICs should be improved. In this work, a new class of magnetic materials which could overcome the main disadvantages encountered when using ferrites in RF devices operating at millimeter wavelengths is studied. This material, called magnetic nanowired substrate (MNWS), is composed of an array of ferromagnetic nanowires embedded in a polymer substrate. First, the ferromagnetic nature of nanowires yields very high saturation magnetizations, thus operating frequencies higher than 40 GHz. Next, the nanometric wire diameter allows an easy penetration of electromagnetic waves inside the MNWS. Moreover, due to the high aspect ratio of nanowires the desired magnetic properties are obtained without an external magnetic field. This leads to a considerable potential increase of the compactness and ease of integration in MMICs. Various potential applications, such as filters and circulators, of this new material are presented.
Book Synopsis Contrast Properties of Entropic Criteria for Blind Source Separation by : Frédéric Vrins
Download or read book Contrast Properties of Entropic Criteria for Blind Source Separation written by Frédéric Vrins and published by Presses univ. de Louvain. This book was released on 2007 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the recent years, Independent Component Analysis has become a fundamental tool in signal and data processing, especially in the field of Blind Source Separation (BSS); under mild conditions, independent source signals can be recovered from mixtures of them by maximizing a so-called contrast function. Neither the mixing system nor the original sources are needed for that purpose, justifying the "blind" term. Among the existing BSS methods is the class of approaches maximizing Information-Theoretic Criteria (ITC), that rely on Rényi's entropies, including the well-known Shannon and Hartley entropies. These ITC are maximized via adaptive optimization schemes. Two major issues in this field are the following: i) Are ITC really contrast functions? and ii) As most of the algorithms look in fact for a local maximum point, what about the relevance of these local optima from the BSS point of view? Even though there are some partial answers to these questions in the literature, most of them are based on simulations and conjectures; formal developments are often lacking. This thesis aims at filling this lack as well as providing intuitive justifications, too. The BSS problem is stated in Chapter 1, and viewed under the information theory angle. The two next chapters address specifically the above questions: Chapter 2 discusses the contrast function property of ITC while the possible existence of spurious local maximum points in ITC is the purpose of Chapter 3. Finally, Chapter 4 deals with a range-based criterion, the only “entropy-based” contrast function which is discriminant, i.e. free from spurious local maxima. The interest of this approach is confirmed by testing the proposed technique on various examples, including the MLSP 2006 data analysis competition benchmark; our method outperforms the previously obtained results on large-scale and noisy mixture samples obtained through ill-conditioned mixing matrices.

Book Synopsis Advanced Numerical Methods with Matlab 1 by : Bouchaib Radi
Download or read book Advanced Numerical Methods with Matlab 1 written by Bouchaib Radi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-03-15 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most physical problems can be written in the form of mathematical equations (differential, integral, etc.). Mathematicians have always sought to find analytical solutions to the equations encountered in the different sciences of the engineer (mechanics, physics, biology, etc.). These equations are sometimes complicated and much effort is required to simplify them. In the middle of the 20th century, the arrival of the first computers gave birth to new methods of resolution that will be described by numerical methods. They allow solving numerically as precisely as possible the equations encountered (resulting from the modeling of course) and to approach the solution of the problems posed. The approximate solution is usually computed on a computer by means of a suitable algorithm. The objective of this book is to introduce and study the basic numerical methods and those advanced to be able to do scientific computation. The latter refers to the implementation of approaches adapted to the treatment of a scientific problem arising from physics (meteorology, pollution, etc.) or engineering (structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, signal processing, etc.) .
