Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the first and most important things for every person intent in growing flowers is to decide what type of orchid to grow. You must consider the climate where you reside because it is very possible that you might be forced to grow orchids indoor instead of outdoor and viceversa. This decision will have a direct impact on your success to grow healthy orchids. Next, make sure to buy healthy plants without any sign of pests or diseases. You should always try to finds bulbs of the same dimensions without any major difference between one and the others. It is strongly reccomended to purchase an orchid that has already bloomed or is about to. In addition, try not to buy from unknown sellers even if they can offer cheaper prices, simply because all it takes is one diseased plant to pratically destroy an entire family of orchids. Try to grow orchids that have similar needs together. For example: do not put orchids which prefer shadow with others that love the sun. Also, try not to place orchids which require nighttime temperatures of 70 to 80 degrees with those who prefer 50 to 60 degrees of temperature. Orchids come in a wide variety of sizes. Always make sure you know how tall your orchid is going to be before buying it, simply because some orchids might grow just a few inches and others reach over two feet. Also, a tiny orchid can expand its flower stems well over five feet in length, so if you are growing orchids indoor, make sure that your living space has enough free space for your orchids to spread out. Many warm orchids require high humidity levels in order to blossom and flourish. Humidity levels required for these types of orchids are in the 60% to 80% range. If you reside in a place where the temperatures are very cold in the winters, probably you will not be capable to maintain a high humidity level without the help of a greenhouse or something similar. Other kinds of cool orchids or terrestrials do not have the same requirements about moisture, that is why they are probably a much better choice for beginners. This ebook is going to cover the most common type of orchids, since there are literally thousands of types of orchids if we keep hybrids in consideration. It will provide an easy step by step guide to successfully bloom orchids, their requirements for humidity, watering, potting, fertilizing and many other tips that will keep your orchids healthy and beautiful.
