Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frank Whitehurst, an academic expert and veteran law enforcement professional, used a mix of police reporting and academic formatting to meticulously document and present real life experiences that occurred during a period from 2012 to 2013. The occurrences and revelations are linked. The information is of interest to people of all religious faiths, agnostics, atheists, and people who take no position. The terms miracle, vision, and sign are defined within the text to set some foundation for reading. Although some personal assumptions are made, the facts are outlined so that decisions may be made by others, based on their own intellect. While reading, you will be challenged to ponder what has been seen and assumed, as well as what has not been seen and assumed. By pondering the information presented, you may have personal revelations and perhaps make your own connections. Still, enlightenment may stem from a spark of desire to search and seek, to self-analyze, to hone one’s focus, and to pay closer attention. It does not matter if you doubt, believe, or disbelieve. Whether using natural law or supernatural reasons, the occurrences will stimulate critical thinking. The information creates a foundation for expanding on personal beliefs and understanding—to evaluate and reevaluate. Perhaps you will be surprised at what you read or more surprised at what you personally uncover. The information presented is unique. Use these unique occurrences, revelations, and connections to read for pleasure, self-study, personal research, improved understanding, spirituality, defining a personal focus, or a challenge to identify new revelations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vision, more than any other sense, dominates our mental life. Our visual experience is just so rich, so detailed, that we can hardly distinguish that experience from the world itself. Even when we just think about the world and don't look at it directly, we can't help but 'imagine' what it looks like. We think of 'seeing' as being a conscious activity--we direct our eyes, we choose what we look at, we register what we are seeing. The series of events described in this book radically altered this attitude towards vision. This book describes one of the most extraordinary neurological cases of recent years--one that profoundly changed scientific views on consciousness. It is the story of Dee Fletcher--a woman recently blinded--who became the subject of a series of scientific studies. As events unfolded, Milner and Goodale found that Dee wasn't in fact blind--she just didn't know that she could see. Taking us on a journey into the unconscious brain, the two scientists who made this incredible discovery tell the amazing story of their work, and the surprising conclusion they were forced to reach. Written to be accessible to students and popular science readers, this book is a fascinating illustration of the power of the 'unconscious' mind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lord shall descend from heaven with the voice of the archangel. The angel that I saw may be Michael. Michael and Gabriel are the only archangels that are mentioned in the Bible. Michael appears to have a key role in the end-time plan of God. Therefore, it may be a strong guess that Michael is the angel that I saw and communicated with about the Rapture. I also have a special message for gang members, drug abusers, adults, teenagers, and the youth. I wrote my visions down for you to know what is out there waiting for you on the other side of the veil. I peeped over and saw some things that were good and witnessed a horror that was beyond my wildest dreams. Most of you have not read the Bible, and a number of you who have, act as though you have forgotten what is in it. I often encounter people, old and young, who say that they cant understand the Bible. Therefore, I use a number of verses that are taken directly from the Bible to support the visions that I have seen. I am doing this purposely to acquaint you with a book that you all know but very seldom pick up to read. Hopefully, it will be a reminder that the Bible is inclusive of everything from the beginning of time to the end. Most of these Bible verses are self-explanatory.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: el-Aswad introduces the concepts of worldviews/cosmologies of Muslims, explaining that the different types of worldviews are not constructed solely by religious scholars or intellectual elite, but are latent in Islamic tradition, embedded in popular imagination, and triggered through people's everyday interaction in various countries and communities. He draws from a number of sources including in-depth interviews and participant observation as well as government documents and oral history. Through the perspectives of ethno-cosmology, emic interpretation of sacred tradition, modernity, folklore, geography, dream, imagination, hybridity, and identity transformation, he examines how culturally and religiously constructed images of the world influence the daily actions of people in various Muslim communities. The worldviews of Sunnis, Shi'as, and Sufis are covered in turn, and Muslims in the UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, and suburban Detroit are the focus. el-Aswad also discusses the effects of Western attempts at imposing its essentially secular worldview through the process of globalization and how cyberspace has promoted connectivity among Muslim communities and, especially in the United States, opened up unlimited options and new possibilities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study refutes both the Western dominant paradigm of modernity and the Eurocentric stereotype of traditional Muslim culture, and demonstrates that rural Egyptians have their own paradigm of secular modernism that does not negate religious or sacred orientations. Islam is associated with ongoing attempts at religious purification and cultural unification and is inimical to cultural homogenization encouraged by Western globalization. Provides a holistic interpretation of the interplay between religion and folk cosmology, challenging the stereotypes that relegate traditional people to backwardness and a peripheral space or locality. Within this Muslim society the global/local nexus is one of ongoing creative integration, not separation. The cosmology can best be understood in the context of its totality, encompassing both visible and invisible zones. Muslims articulate personal or private order as well as social order within their cosmology. This cosmological view, endowing people with a unique imaginative sense of engagemenet with a supraphenomenal reality, accentuates the belief that divine cosmic invisible higher power surpasses any other power. Such a belief represents an inexhaustible source of spiritual and emotional empowerment that may be politically mobilized in certain critical moments and depicted as a religious, holy struggle, or jihad.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am a preacher called by GOD, but I can not impress you with an array of college degrees. I am a blue collar skilled-labor licensed aircraft mechanic by trade, a skill that I leaned in the United States Air Force. God saved me and began to visit me when I was a fatherless boy of ten year's old living in the projects of Pittsburgh, Penn. The Lord was with me as a boy up until I went to Vietnam. After spending a total of three years in Viet-Nam, I returned home with many problems. I had experience the worst side of life, become unsaved with a problem with depression and alcohol. One day I called upon the name of the Lord, Nov 1979. I told God if he really existed and would speak to me, I would serve him. After what I had seen in life, I doubted if there was really a God, and if he even cared. God spoke to me, from then on the Lord Jesus has never stopped speaking to me some way or some how everyday of my life. He delivered me and cleaned me up; set me in a great ministry, the Pittsburgh Revival Center pastor by a true Apostle, Brother Dan and Sister Annie. The Apostle was known all over the area in the 50's until the 80's. There I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Also I have been licensed as a minister in the Pentecostal Assembly of the World, and the Church of God in Christ. For years the Lord has prepared me to teach and preach and anoint me for the end-time move of GOD. God Bless You Minister Howard Stevens

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout his life, the apartheid activist, Nelson Mandela (Madiba), maintained, 'In the darkest moment there is always hope. We must never give up'. Hope as a mode of the courage to be (Paul Tillich), points to what the Sociologist Peter Berger calls: signals of transcendence. Wholeness in Hope Care explores the rich tradition of hope in wisdom, philosophy and Christian theology. It connects non-hope/un-hope (Gabriel Marcel: inespoir) to a theology of compassion in soul care (cura animarum). Resurrection hope (theologia resurrectionis) points to the healing of life (cura vitae) and the preservation of land (cura terrae). In order to describe the helping and healing dimension in pastoral caregiving, the term 'promissiotherapy' has been coined. Daniel Johannes Louw was Dean of the faculty of theology at the University of Stellenbosch (2001-2005), President of the International Academy of Practical Theology (IAPT) (2003-2005) and President of the International Council for Pastoral Care and Counselling (ICPPC) (2011-2015). Book excerpt: "Archaeologist Genevieve von Petzinger looks past the horses, bison, ibex, and faceless humans in the ancient paintings and instead focuses on the abstract geometric images that accompany them. She offers her research on the terse symbols that appear more often than any other kinds of figures--signs that have never really been studied or explained until now"--
