Book Synopsis The Nature of the Economy by : Ricardo F. Crespo
Download or read book The Nature of the Economy written by Ricardo F. Crespo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-07-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the deep meaning—the nature or essence—of the economy and its fundamental components. As a monograph on the philosophy of the economy and economics, it deduces the metaphysical nature of these two, going step by step from more general to more specific realities to finally arrive at the adequate features of the economic sciences and their methods. It builds on a largely Aristotelian approach, but also draws extensively from modern scholarship in the area. Usefully and pertinently, the book covers both general aspects of the economy and particular historically specific features. Among the important topics covered in the book are the meanings of the economy, the nature and role of economic agents, the nature of the macroeconomy, the nature and role of money, and so on. The book concludes with chapters on the nature of economics itself and its methodologies.

The seminar, entitled "The Costs of Post-Secondary Education in a Technological Society," was held at Cap-Rouge, near Quebec City, 25-27 June 1971. The seminar reviewed the response of developed nations to the important and difficult challenges confronting post-secondary education in this technological age. It brought together heads of post-secondary institutions and educational advisory bodies, financial and educational government officials, educational researchers, and businessmen. Approximately fifty per cent of the participants were from Canada with the remainder from Australia, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Norway, United States, West Germany, and from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Book Synopsis An Outline of the Philosophical Anthropology by : Stanisław Kowalczyk
Download or read book An Outline of the Philosophical Anthropology written by Stanisław Kowalczyk and published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften. This book was released on 1991 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the nature, origin and destiny of man? These questions are vital not only to the philosophy. This book is an attempt to unite the classic thomistic philosophy with the phenomenological method. The first part of the book contains methodological remarks connected with the transition from the phenomenology to the metaphysics of man. The second part of the paper gives a phenomenological description of man: his corporeity, main attributes and activity - external and internal. The final part of anthropology is the metaphysics of man. Human being is the substantial self, the personal «I», a psycho-somatic reality endowed with mental faculties. The book discusses also the problems of death and immortality, the relation between an individual person and social community.

Book Synopsis Human Goods, Economic Evils by : Edward Hadas
Download or read book Human Goods, Economic Evils written by Edward Hadas and published by Intercollegiate Studies Institute. This book was released on 2007 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of modern economic theory is based on a rather unflattering view of human nature, one that is essentially selfish and materialistic. Not surprisingly, this incomplete version of human anthropology makes for some rather incomplete economic theory, argues Edward Hadas in Human Goods & Economic Evils. Instead of simply being utility maximizers, Hadas argues human beings also seek to maximize morality in their everyday economic lives. For Hadas, economic man is moral man, who always strives for the good according to his nature. While the weakness of human nature ensures that the good is never fully achieved, economic activity is nevertheless best understood as part of the great moral enterprise of humanity. Human Goods & Economic Evils does not claim that the basic economic activities of laboring and consuming are the most important things in life, but they are literally vital, and as such deserve to be studied and understood through a more morally sympathetic view of human nature. With this in mind, Human Goods & Economic Evils provides both lay readers and policymakers the intellectual tools necessary to judge what is right and what is wrong about the modern economy, and returns the study of economics to its proper, more humanistic sphere.
Book Synopsis Philosophy of the Economy by : Ricardo F. Crespo
Download or read book Philosophy of the Economy written by Ricardo F. Crespo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops a philosophical analysis of economic reality and economic science from an Aristotelian point of view. It is the result of many years of thinking and philosophical study about these topics. It differs from other philosophy of economics books as it also deals with economic reality (not only the science) and approaches its subject from an Aristotelian perspective. It differs from other Aristotelian studies about economics as it covers the whole of philosophy of the economy. This book argues why Aristotle’s thinking guarantees an appropriate interdisciplinary synthesis.
