Download or read book Amateur Radio HF Antennas written by Claude Jollet and published by Claude Jollet. This book was released on with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contents of this book are mostly aimed at the amateur radio beginner and aspiring ones. Therefore, this book provides answers to basic questions like: What is the best HF antenna for my needs and location? What type of stand-alone antenna tuner should I use and which should I avoid? How can I hide my HF antenna from the neighbors and still get acceptable performance from it? What about lightning protection? This book will supply immediately useful answers to the above questions and many more. A properly designed and installed amateur radio HF antenna system can potentially make the humblest ham radio equipment perform like stations worth thousands of dollars. We are confident that the antenna experimenter will find the information given here priceless. Furthermore, any ham radio operator, armed with the information this book contains, will become a much better informed buyer of commercially made HF antenna systems and accessories. This special compendium edition is published in response to ham radio operators who wrote to ask that all the basic information, on and related to amateur radio HF antennas, be made available in one book instead of four, arguing that it would be more convenient. The author and publisher agree. Therefore this edition contains the complete four-book series on Amateur Radio HF Antennas published by Claude Jollet, VE2DPE.

Book excerpt: Any 160-meter enthusiast will tell you that operating on Topband, as it is called, is challenging, exciting and intriguing. Author Jeff Briggs, K1ZM, well known as a Topband expert, has compiled a book that will appeal to diehard 160-meter operators as well as those who have always wondered what goes on down there on the frequency spectrum. Indeed, the 160-meter aficionado is a special breed of operator. How do you know when you're a True-Blue 160-meter fan? One clue might be that you're finding yourself actually enjoying listening to static crashes... And you suspect you're on the edge when you wake up just before dawn for three months, just trying to make that seemingly impossible Topband DX QSO with Hong Kong or maybe Bangladesh! K1ZM has written this book as a fond dedication to one of the true pioneers on 160 meters, Stew Perry, W1BB, who is lovingly remembered by many people still on the air. DXing on the Edge chronicles W1BB's many accomplishments on Topband, plus those of numerous other early operators. Aside from detailed historical information, the author describes many practical antennas and operating techniques that can lead to success on 160. Like most of the ham bands, hearing the DX is the most challenging part of operating-and hearing well on Topband requires superior receiving antennas. Successful DXing can be accomplished even from a city lot, however, and the book includes lots of neat tricks and hints that will help you work the rare ones.

Book Synopsis Super Max-Dipole Antennas by : Edward J. Shortridge
Download or read book Super Max-Dipole Antennas written by Edward J. Shortridge and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2017-04-19 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A previous book titled “Super-Dipole Antennas”, which was written by this author, introduced a completely new Unified Broad-Banding Method. This method primarily consists of the use of a 1/2 wavelength Dipole, which is fed with a 1/4 (or shorter) wavelength resonant line. The amount of coupling between these two components is greatly reduced and controlled to produce a wide SWR bandwidth. This Broad-Banding method is referred to as “Critically-Coupled Broad-Banding”. This new book, titled “Super Max-Dipole Antennas” is a continuation or addition to the previous book and primarily presents Inverted V and Horizontal antennas in the 75-80 and 160m bands, which are some of the widest HF bands. Early chapters reintroduce the “Unified Broad-Banding Method”, presenting Inverted V antennas, with each of the possible “S” Broad-Banding configurations presented at various antenna heights, with a few newer configurations being presented. A totally different Broad-Banding method, which uses “Dual Inverted V” antennas, which can produce very low SWR bandwidths at all antenna heights, is then presented. Some of these were previously presented but these are new or improved versions. The latter chapters present some completely new Broad-Banding configurations utilizing “Dual Inverted V” radiators, which in itself creates Broad-Banding but by adding one of several “Critical- Coupling” configurations, “Double Broad-Banding” can be achieved. This arrangement can produce SWR bandwidths at or below an SWR of 1.5/1 across the entire bandwidth at any and all antenna heights. This appears to be a notable achievement, not occurring often. These new and unique configurations introduced will completely change the perception of how antennas are matched and Broad-Banded. Many of the configurations are very simple and easy to understand. Most have been reduced in complexity, cost of materials and can readily be assembled and these are referred to as “Super-Dipole Antennas”. Throughout this book configurations presented include charts showing how the Far-field RF gains and coaxial losses vary across each of the bandwidths, giving a good perception of the efficiency on each band. All of the antennas throughout this book have been configured with an efficiency in mind and those antennas that have higher losses are scrutinized rigorously and the true performance specifications are shown, whether they are good or bad.
