Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Shiva lingam is an aniconic representation of Lord Shiva. Hindus worship Lord Shiva mostly in the form of a Shiva lingam, but its meaning has been one of the most debated topics. There are mainly two groups; one believes it is a sexual organ and others believe it is not. They both give many different arguments in the support of their perspective. With the advent of science and technology, one more group has emerged which strongly believes that there is some sort of science behind the concept of Shiva Lingam. But what are the reasons behind this confusion? 1. There are some stories in the Hindu scriptures that depict it as a sexual organ while some stories say it is a column of fire. 2. Many different meanings of the words linga and yoni. 3. Ancient pillar/phallus worship. 4. Different practices of different Hindu sects. 5. The shape of a Shiva lingam. In February 2010, the encyclopedia Britannica removed a sentence about Shiva lingam from its article.“In temples and private shrines, Shiva is ... worshipped in the form of the lingam, or phallus, often embedded in the yoni, the symbol of the female sexual organ.”It is believed that it did so because of the pressure of Netizens, but I doubt that a website like Britannica would do so unless there is some valid reason behind it. When we talk about religion, the scriptures are of utmost importance. Therefore, in this book, I have sought refuge mainly in scriptures to determine what exactly a Shiva Lingam is, but I have also considered other things like archaeological evidence, logic, history, science, etc. I am sure that this book would not only answer what a Shiva lingam really is but also you would learn many new things about Hinduism.

All parents should read this knowledge-treasure and share it with their children. Guruji Sundara Raj Anantha has revealed esoteric secrets that proof Hindu shastra-s are science-based. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the various translations I have done of the sthotrams, mantras, Tantras, Upanishads etc., I find our understanding of Shiva is quite different from what is described in these literatures. The notion of Shiva as a God, its religious association with divinity, as a belief or any emotions associated with it seems alien when these texts are translated and read. I find by associating emotions, judgement and conclusions based on judgement to the concept of Shiva, we have lost the knowledge of Shiva and romanticised it according to our needs. This book is based on my research and translations of these literatures, the conclusions that I have drawn based on my translations, as to what Shiva possibly could have meant. You can read the translations at my blog https://ancientinsight.online. At a very high level, a contextual translation of the ancient literatures indicate that Shiva is the environment that gets created due to the vibration(OM) yielding to the turbulence (Rudra) that is present in the Isha (a set of potentials). A constriction in the entanglement (created due to the turbulence), creates a Linga and causes a part of the vibration (OM) to hang perpendicular to this system. These vibrations circle over themselves and come back and meet the entanglement, creating an environment of directed and reflected vibrations which then supports the formation of impulses which then grows to become awareness and beings. This environment is sustained by the Linga and the turbulence each ensuring that the other does not fade away. The book follows through from the Bhagavad Gita’s Kshetra-Kshetragyana-Yoga (Chapter 13) that describes the environment, the nature of the become and the soul of the becoming, to the Kalabhairava Ashtakam that describes the dimensions of the awareness to the Shiva Tandava sthotram that describes the creation of this environment, to show why Shiva actually is a concept and is the environment that is formed.

Book excerpt: Transgender India: Understanding Third Gender Identities and Experiences provides the first scholarly study of hijras, transmen, and other third gender Indians from the perspective of a range of disciplines in the behavioral and social sciences, as well as the humanities. This book fosters a dialogue across academic fields, as authors cross-reference each other’s chapters, comparing and contrasting their views of transgender experience and identity in India. This multidisciplinary approach helps readers understand the complex interplay of factors that have led to discrimination against third gender individuals, as well as paths forward to a more equitable and just future, in ways that go beyond the perspective of a single academic field. This multidisciplinary approach is the book’s most distinctive feature in comparison to existing works limited to individual fields such as anthropology, investigative journalism, and history. The broad scope of Transgender India is relevant to scholars and students in diverse disciplines who seek a greater and more nuanced understanding of the behavioral and societal impact of these issues.

Book excerpt: In this magisterial volume of essays, Wendy Doniger enhances our understanding of the ancient and complex religion to which she has devoted herself for half a century. This series of interconnected essays and lectures surveys the most critically important and hotly contested issues in Hinduism over 3,500 years, from the ancient time of the Vedas to the present day. The essays contemplate the nature of Hinduism; Hindu concepts of divinity; attitudes concerning gender, control, and desire; the question of reality and illusion; and the impermanent and the eternal in the two great Sanskrit epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Among the questions Doniger considers are: Are Hindus monotheists or polytheists? How can atheists be Hindu, and how can unrepentant Hindu sinners find salvation? Why have Hindus devoted so much attention to the psychology of addiction? What does the significance of dogs and cows tell us about Hinduism? How have Hindu concepts of death, rebirth, and karma changed over the course of history? How and why does a pluralistic faith, remarkable for its intellectual tolerance, foster religious intolerance? Doniger concludes with four concise autobiographical essays in which she reflects on her lifetime of scholarship, Hindu criticism of her work, and the influence of Hinduism on her own philosophy of life. On Hinduism is the culmination of over forty years of scholarship from a renowned expert on one of the world's great faiths.

Book excerpt: This book is my token of love and gratitude for our great religion that has preserved India and has maintained its great heritage despite its struggles with so many negative forces trying to bring it down. We may not be the greatest in terms of our economic stance, but we do produce the best minds globally in virtually all the fields of material and worldly enterprise. Our religion keeps us rooted, and it also helps to produce the rigour with which all of us can excel in our individual pursuits. Today, the government in India is openly religious, and that is great for all those of us who have been ignored, abused, molested and ravaged by the ugly, cancelling , capitalist and cancerous forces of the past. I urge all of us modern Hindus to get back in touch with our philosophy, practice our religion, and not let it become a prized possession of the pilferers of the past.

Book excerpt: New updated edition. Crystal therapy is a complementary practice that uses the energy of crystals, precious and semi-precious stones, to combat ailments of the body and mind. There are many properties of stones, each one deserves a separate study and, if we intend to approach crystal therapy, we must know these properties, so as to choose the most suitable stone according to our needs. Crystal therapy is based on the analysis of the chakras and provides for their treatment through the stones. If one or more of our chakras don't "work" properly, we are affected physically and spiritually; the stones, thanks to their energies, restore balance. From yoga philosophy crystal therapy has assimilated the concept of "chakra" which are the seven areas of our body where energy is concentrated. Stones, like plants and animals, are part of nature and would therefore be able to emit energy and vibrations and being matter in a state of perfect balance, they would be capable of transmitting positive influences. However, it must always be kept in mind that the "stones" have no healing power of their own, so they cannot replace the work of the doctor or any drugs but, according to an oriental concept, applied to the various chakras, can only act by vibratory affinity. In crystallotherapy those areas of the human body where there are the main correspondences of the energy or reflex centers are used as therapeutic principles of application, which are also found in the study of the meridians of Acupuncture, Yoga and Ayurveda, and which are not contradiction with current scientific research. The main thing to be able to implement crystal therapy, of course, is to have a certain basic quantity of crystals, gems, stones.
