Book excerpt: SHEBA'S VOW is a novel about the struggle for democracy on a "South American" island. South Chale is ruled by a military dictatorship that has divided the country into four different racial groups, each strictly segregated. On South Chale, Asians rule the nation, while whites and blacks are treated as a subservient subclass. Sheba is born into the most despised class of all, the mongrels, for the mongrels blur the differences between the races. After seeing her father persecuted by the State Security Police, Sheba vows to work for the overthrow of the dictatorship Their neighbouring island (Suntos) has become communist, but here things are reversed, it is the blacks who rule over the whites and Asians. When Sheba visits Suntos to investigated whether they should seek the assistance of Soviet advisors, she finds a horror that is beyond anything she could have imagined. SHEBA'S VOW is a blend of fact and fiction. South Chale, where the story takes place is largely an amalgam of Chile, Argentina, and South Africa of the 1980s. The novel is largely about a political and personal struggle to find a way out of the despair and violence of dictatorships, a reflection of world events during the period 1980-1995.

But for marketing strategist Sheba Reed and project manager Nasir Ahmed, the real spark isn't just the ideas they are forging together. It's the undeniable chemistry - and unspoken temptation - that crackles between them. As Sheba and Nasir collaborate on a make-or-break campaign, their creative synergy takes on electrifying new meaning. The more they push boundaries at work, the more the blurring of lines between professional and personal becomes inevitable. But in their cutthroat corporate world, indulging even a hint of impropriety could short-circuit both their careers and the intense connection they've charged with potential. From tense boardroom negotiations to high-stakes galas, Sheba and Nasir must walk the fine line between conduct and desire, ethics and ambition. Do they rein in their authentic feelings and insulate themselves in professionalism? Or will the magnetic pull they share prove too powerful to resist, setting off shockwaves that could spark a deeper journey of self-discovery... and irrevocable transformation? Crackling with scintillating chemistry and empowering insights into the modern corporate battlefield, The Spark That Ignites is a gripping and sensual exploration of the choices we make when our greatest triumphs and most electrifying temptations converge. Get ready to feel the thrill of Rose Scales' masterful storytelling, where ambition has never burned brighter - and love has never felt more dangerously defiant.

Book excerpt: This is the tale of Bilqis, the Queen of Sheba, who rules the spice lands and bows before the will of the Goddess. This is the tale of Solomon, the King of Israel and Judea, who built the golden temple to Yahweh in Jerusalem. Once he prayed that he might rule wisely. This is the tale of Solomon's wives, of his concubines ... and of his daughter Baalit, more beloved than any son. Here are their voices, their mysteries, and their deepest secrets. Here they sing their songs and weave their tapestries. As the queen's search for a true heir to her throne takes her to the court of the wisest man in the world, both she and the king learn how to value truth, love, and duty...and the king's daughter learns that not all the world is ruled by men. Wisdom's Daughter is a vivid and richly textured rendition of the biblical tale of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Told in a tapestry of voices that ring with authenticity, Wisdom's Daughter profoundly reveals the deep ties among women in a patriarchal world.
