Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner - The National Indie Excellence Awards, Gay/Lesbian Non-Fiction Category GAYTUDE: a poetic journey around the world features bilingual poetry (English-French) written, translated and adapted by Albert Russo and Adam Donaldson Powell; with photography by Albert Russo. Gaytude is published by Xlibris Corporation, USA, copyright 2009 by Albert Russo and Adam Donaldson Powell, 335 pages, in both hardcover and softcover editions: ISBN hardcover: 978-1-4363-6396-9 and ISBN softcover: 978-1-4363-6395-2. Gaytude is available from Xlibris, Barnes and Noble, Target, Alibris, Amazon (US, France, UK, Canada, Germany, Japan) as well as from numerous bookdealers in many countries. Gaytude is a poetic study of both the universality and the diversity of gay experience ... an experience of confluence whereby individual love, lust and identity are constantly in tandem and conflict with collective mores, customs, codes and trends. In a sense, we are all gay ... inasmuch as we all seek the right to be different, as well as to be the same. For some, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is recognition and acceptance ; and for others it is perhaps the excitement of covert intimacy and adventure. This book is dedicated to all gays, including those who flaunt their sexual orientation freely and those who still remain secretive or inactive due to still ongoing risks of abuse, harassment and execution. One day, men all over the world will be able to proudly quote from Catullus 16 - this time with pride and loving spirit: “Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo” . Dr. Santosh Kumar (Editor of The Taj Mahal Review, India) has written the following about Gaytude: Albert Russo and Adam Donaldson Powell ́s «Gaytude, a poetic journey around the world», makes it evident that gay poetry always has a distinctive voice, because a gay poet suffers from a sense of ostracism, of being excluded by others due to differences ... The poems by Russo and Powell are marked with outsiderhood, the sense of being different from the fashionable or ́straight ́ writing. Instead of treating the Enlightenment in the usual manner, as a challenge to orthodox ideas and social conventions, Lieselotte Steinbrugge interprets it as a deviation from a position staked out in the seventeenth century, namely, "the mind has no sex.".

This book was released on 1995-01-05 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sociocultural analysis of the relationships among law, religion, and sexual morality in Burgundy during the Catholic Reformation, this book is divided into two, interrelated parts: the world of prescription and the world of practice. The first part examines the construction of authority, focusing primarily upon Burgundy's dominant elite legal community. The second part of the book examines the deployment of authority, and its appropriation by French men and women. The new moral order focused on sexuality and the imposition of this order involved a legal contest over the disposition of bodies, both male and female, be they priests, courting couples, victims of seduction or rape, or prostitutes. James Farr's book offers an unusually fertile approach to study the link between sexuality and criminality.

This book was released on 2024-10-28 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first set of articles in this collection is concerned with the nature of the bishop’s authority in the Early Church and the sources from which it was drawn. This is seen in political terms, as in the writings of Justin Martyr, as well as spiritual ones. Charles Munier singles out Tertullian as the first to formulate a doctrine of apostolic succession, but also traces his subsequent path towards the affirmation of the authority of the Holy Spirit over that embodied in the ’Orthodox Church’. The following studies turn to a complementary area of ecclesiology, that of pastoral care. The author points to the great diversity of forms of worship and rite, from the earliest days of the Church; these, he argues, reflect a constant process of adaptation, to fit particular religious needs, and to understand such divergences it is necessary to investigate the theological motives that lay behind them. Particular topics here are those of baptism and marriage, especially the still controversial question of how and with what discretion to treat divorce and remarriage.
