Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 21 years ago it was a joint idea with Hans Rottenkolber to organize a workshop dedicated to the discussion of the latest results in the automatic processing of fringe patterns. This idea was promoted by the insight that automatic and high precision phase measurement techniques will play a key role in all future industrial and scientific applications of optical metrology. A couple of months later more than 50 specialists from East and West met in East Berlin, the capital of the former GDR, to spend 3 days with the discussion of new principles of fringe processing. In the stimulating atmoshere the idea was born to repeat the workshop and to organize the meeting in an olympic schedule. And thus meanwhile 20 years have been passed and we have today Fringe number six. However, such a workshop takes place in a dynamic environment. Therefore the main topics of the previous events were always adapted to the most interesting subjects of the new period. In 1993 the workshop took place in Bremen and was dedicated to new principles of optical shape measurement, setup calibration, phase unwrapping and nondestructive testing, while in 1997 new approaches in multi-sensor metrology, active measurement strategies and hybrid processing technologies played a central role. 2001, the first meeting in the 21st century, was focused to optical methods for micromeasurements, hybrid measurement technologies and new sensor solutions for industrial inspection.

Book Synopsis Advances in Speckle Metrology and Related Techniques by : Guillermo H. Kaufmann
Download or read book Advances in Speckle Metrology and Related Techniques written by Guillermo H. Kaufmann and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-01-25 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speckle metrology includes various optical techniques that are based on the speckle fields generated by reflection from a rough surface or by transmission through a rough diffuser. These techniques have proven to be very useful in testing different materials in a non-destructive way. They have changed dramatically during the last years due to the development of modern optical components, with faster and more powerful digital computers, and novel data processing approaches. This most up-to-date overview of the topic describes new techniques developed in the field of speckle metrology over the last decade, as well as applications to experimental mechanics, material science, optical testing, and fringe analysis.

Book Synopsis Single-Shot 3D Sensing Close to Physical Limits and Information Limits by : Florian Willomitzer
Download or read book Single-Shot 3D Sensing Close to Physical Limits and Information Limits written by Florian Willomitzer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-05 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis discusses the physical and information theoretical limits of optical 3D metrology, and, based on these principal considerations, introduces a novel single-shot 3D video camera that works close to these limits. There are serious obstacles for a “perfect” 3D-camera: The author explains that it is impossible to achieve a data density better than one third of the available video pixels. Available single-shot 3D cameras yet display much lower data density, because there is one more obstacle: The object surface must be “encoded” in a non-ambiguous way, commonly by projecting sophisticated patterns. However, encoding devours space-bandwidth and reduces the output data density. The dissertation explains how this profound dilemma of 3D metrology can be solved, exploiting just two synchronized video cameras and a static projection pattern. The introduced single-shot 3D video camera, designed for macroscopic live scenes, displays an unprecedented quality and density of the 3D point cloud. The lateral resolution and depth precision are limited only by physics. Like a hologram, each movie-frame encompasses the full 3D information about the object surface and the observation perspective can be varied while watching the 3D movie.

Book Synopsis Simulation and Experiment in Laser Metrology by : Zoltan Füzessy
Download or read book Simulation and Experiment in Laser Metrology written by Zoltan Füzessy and published by VCH Publishers. This book was released on 1996 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings document about 45 contributions to the International Symposium on Laser Applications in Precision Measurement held in Balatonfüred/Hungary during June 3–6, 1996. Special emphasis was given to the Combination of Simulation and Experiment in Laser Metrology. International experts provide a survey over a large variety of their latest achievements and developments in this rapidly advancing field. Over the last years, optical measurement techniques like structured illumination, holographic interferometry and tomography were applied more and more in combination with CAE–tools such as CAD and FEM. This combination has found a world of new applications in scientific and industrial branches interested in highly exact but nondestructive and noncontact measurement of technical components. Each of the four sections contains an overview article given by international leading experts. With that the proceedings should be considered to be a state–of–the–art report combining the areas of mathematical modeling of objects, experimental testing under definite stresses, computer–aided evaluation and measuring of objects.
Book Synopsis Coordinate Metrology by : Jerzy A. Sładek
Download or read book Coordinate Metrology written by Jerzy A. Sładek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on effective methods for assessing the accuracy of both coordinate measuring systems and coordinate measurements. It mainly reports on original research work conducted by Sladek’s team at Cracow University of Technology’s Laboratory of Coordinate Metrology. The book describes the implementation of different methods, including artificial neural networks, the Matrix Method, the Monte Carlo method and the virtual CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), and demonstrates how these methods can be effectively used in practice to gauge the accuracy of coordinate measurements. Moreover, the book includes an introduction to the theory of measurement uncertainty and to key techniques for assessing measurement accuracy. All methods and tools are presented in detail, using suitable mathematical formulations and illustrated with numerous examples. The book fills an important gap in the literature, providing readers with an advanced text on a topic that has been rapidly developing in recent years. The book is intended for master and PhD students, as well as for metrology engineers working at industrial and research laboratories. It not only provides them with a solid background for using existing coordinate metrology methods; it is also meant to inspire them to develop the state-of-the-art technologies that will play an important role in supporting quality growth and innovation in advanced manufacturing.
