Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have travelled for more than 20 years and visited 51 countries on my own. I don't have a camera but write poems instead! My poems cover a huge gamut of experiences. I have captured the weird, the wonderful, heartbreaking, humorous, inspirational and moving aspects of my travelling and life. I have written poems celebrating the inner child in all of us, the secret of Happiness and in honour of another aspect of life... Death. I have also written many personal poems for people whom in some cases I have only met once and unlikely to meet again. My personal poems are thought provoking and motivational. There is a spiritual depth to them too and almost miraculously they zoom in on and highlight the source of a person’s fears and woes and offer release and solutions. I honestly can’t say how I do this, as not only has the individual not talked about their pain to me, in most cases they have buried it from themselves. My poems acknowledging their problems with heartfelt advice and hope bring enlightenment and tears of wonderment, to me too! Most of my poems are written at night in a trance-like state and I wake up in the morning to reams of paper. Sometimes I have to look up words in the dictionary as I don’t know what they mean or even if they exist, and I am amazed to find they are words which express exactly what I am trying to say! Even Oprah Winfrey visiting a murderer in prison is the inspiration for one of my trance-like channelled poems! I feel the prisoner's subconscious was speaking through me and what develops is truly incredible and alarming. My poems are cherished by me. "I have the armour to fight life's lions" and "I have captured the Gift of Happiness within my heart" Even people who don't like poems love mine passionately. They all rhyme and have a readable, enjoyable flow to them. Nobody hears one without wanting to hear another. Last night I dreamed of a beautiful angel called Seraphina who told me she was my travel companion. I feel she should share some credit for my wondrous gift and now have the title for my book which has eluded me for many years.

Book Synopsis The Daughter of Adoption by : John Thelwall
Download or read book The Daughter of Adoption written by John Thelwall and published by Broadview Press. This book was released on 2013-03-18 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Thelwall’s The Daughter of Adoption: A Tale of Modern Times is a witty and wide-ranging work in which the picaresque and sentimental novel of the eighteenth century confronts the revolutionary ideas and forms of the Romantic period. Thelwall puts his two main characters, the conflicted English gentleman Henry Montfort and the Creole Seraphina Parkinson, through their paces in a slave rebellion in Haiti, where they barely escape with their lives, and in London society, where Henry almost loses his soul. Combining political analysis with melodrama and flat-out farce, Daughter expands the scope of the abolitionist novel, pushing the argument beyond the slave trade to challenge empire and racial superiority. Historical materials on Thelwall’s life, the abolitionist movement, and eighteenth-century educational theories provide a detailed context for the novel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Dark family secrets, the lore of the sea, and a tender, protective friendship between women all converge in The Speed of Mercy, an unusual and surprising story set in idyllic rural Nova Scotia. With subtle humour, Conlin picks the locks on the long-closed doors of two families and bares the ugly, painful skeletons everyone knew were there but chose to hide.” — Sylvia D. Hamilton, author of And I Alone Escaped To Tell You The Speed of Mercy captures the unbearable cost of childhood betrayal and what happens when history is suppressed, our past is forgotten — yet finding the truth can change the future. Christy Ann Conlin rips into the myths and stereotypes about older women and those on the edge of conventional society to reveal the timeless gift of mercy in this feminist tour de force. “Christy Ann Conlin is a conjurer: of place, people, and the haunting past. I was instantly caught up in the darkly mysterious world and indelible characters she has brought to life. Gripping, suspenseful, and lyrically written, The Speed of Mercy caught me by the throat and didn’t let go.” — Alix Ohlin, Scotiabank Giller Prize–shortlisted author of Dual Citizens
Book Synopsis The Philosophers and the Mere by : Brian Capleton
Download or read book The Philosophers and the Mere written by Brian Capleton and published by Amarilli Books. This book was released on 2024-01-17 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inner circle of the philosophers of Pavi Bujdam are a close group of friends who include a renowned artist, a mathematician, musicians, dancers, theologians and an astrologer, who all live with the great philosophical question of what lies beyond the mere surrounding their almost trouble-free land. In their meetings together they are always exploring their philosophies, an exploration in which the reader is invited to share in the form of the entertainment of the story. In a setting of symbolism and literary device, through the storytelling in The Philosophers and the Mere we tacitly meet Buddhism, ancient Greek philosophy, the Hindu Puranas, Renaissance Neoplatonism, Christianity, the subject matter of great paintings by Poussin and Botticelli, and even the deep philosophical questions of modern physics, all in an original, progressively poetical setting. The tenor of The Philosophers and the Mere is outside the mould of ordinary stories of troubles and strife in personal affairs of human love and relationships. In The Philosophers and the Mere such trouble regularly appears only in the annual masquerade which takes place at the Mereage, the most beautiful part of Pavi Bujdam in which all the friends live. As the story progresses, the philosophy of the friends begins to come to life. In the language of Mythic Symbolism the very landscape of the tale itself undergoes its own metamorphosis. Its final unfolding reveals a post-contemporary myth within whose fabric is woven a message about love and human existence.
