Such sequences also have strong ties to error-correcting codes. This volume contains survey and research papers on sequences and their applications. It brings together leading experts from discrete mathematics, computer science and communications engineering, and helps to bridge advances in these different areas. Papers in this volume discuss the theory of sequences and their applications in cryptography, coding theory, communications systems, numerical computation and computer simulation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the refereed proceedings of the 3rd International Conf- ence on Sequences and Their Applications (SETA 2004), held in Seoul, Korea during October 24–28, 2004. The previous two conferences, SETA 1998 and SETA 2001, were held in Singapore and Bergen, Norway, respectively. These conferences are motivated by the many widespread applications of sequences in modern communication systems. These applications include pseudorandom sequences in spread spectrum systems, code-division multiple-access, stream ciphers in cryptography and several connections to coding theory. The Technical Program Committee of SETA 2004 received 59 submitted - pers, many more than the submissions to previous SETA conferences. The C- mittee therefore had the di?cult task of selecting the 33 papers to be presented at the Conference in addition to four invited papers. The authors of papers p- sented at the conference were invited to submit full papers that were refereed before appearing in this proceedings. These proceedings have been edited by the Co-chairs of the Technical P- gram Committee for SETA 2004: Tor Helleseth of the University of Bergen, Norway, and Dilip Sarwate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and Technical Program Committee members Hong-Yeop Song of Yonsei University, Korea, and Kyeongcheol Yang of Pohang University of Science and Technology, Korea.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on the invited talks of the "RICAM-Workshop on Finite Fields and Their Applications: Character Sums and Polynomials" held at the Federal Institute for Adult Education (BIfEB) in Strobl, Austria, from September 2-7, 2012. Finite fields play important roles in many application areas such as coding theory, cryptography, Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo methods, pseudorandom number generation, quantum computing, and wireless communication. In this book we will focus on sequences, character sums, and polynomials over finite fields in view of the above mentioned application areas: Chapters 1 and 2 deal with sequences mainly constructed via characters and analyzed using bounds on character sums. Chapters 3, 5, and 6 deal with polynomials over finite fields. Chapters 4 and 9 consider problems related to coding theory studied via finite geometry and additive combinatorics, respectively. Chapter 7 deals with quasirandom points in view of applications to numerical integration using quasi-Monte Carlo methods and simulation. Chapter 8 studies aspects of iterations of rational functions from which pseudorandom numbers for Monte Carlo methods can be derived. The goal of this book is giving an overview of several recent research directions as well as stimulating research in sequences and polynomials under the unified framework of character theory.

Written by an industry expert, this booknavigates you through the complexities of XVA, discussing in detailthe very latest developments in valuation adjustments including theimpact of regulatory capital and margin requirements arising fromCCPs and bilateral initial margin. The book presents a unified approach to modelling valuationadjustments including credit risk, funding and regulatory effects. The practical implementation of XVA models using Monte Carlotechniques is also central to the book. You'll also find thoroughcoverage of how XVA sensitivities can be accurately measured, thetechnological challenges presented by XVA, the use of gridcomputing on CPU and GPU platforms, the management of data, and howthe regulatory framework introduced under Basel III presentsmassive implications for the finance industry. Explores how XVA models have developed in the aftermath of thecredit crisis The only text to focus on the XVA adjustments rather than thebroader topic of counterparty risk. Covers regulatory change since the credit crisis includingBasel III and the impact regulation has had on the pricing ofderivatives. Covers the very latest valuation adjustments, KVA and MVA. Most chapters of this monograph cover on the designs of linear codes. A few chapters deal with designs obtained from linear codes in other ways. Connections among ovals, hyperovals, maximal arcs, ovoids, linear codes and designs are also investigated. This book consists of both classical results on designs from linear codes and recent results yet published by others. This monograph is intended to be a reference for postgraduates and researchers who work on combinatorics, or coding theory, or digital communications, or finite geometry.

It aims at providing a survey of constructions of difference sets and almost difference sets as well as an in-depth treatment of codebooks and linear codes from difference sets and almost difference sets. To be self-contained, this monograph covers necessary mathematical foundations and the basics of coding theory. It also contains tables of best BCH codes and best cyclic codes over GF(2) and GF(3) up to length 125 and 79, respectively. This repository of tables can be used to benchmark newly constructed cyclic codes. This monograph is intended to be a reference for postgraduates and researchers who work on combinatorics, or coding theory, or digital communications.
