Book excerpt: Solid—Gas Separation presents a brief and highly technical account of the principles and technology of gas-cleaning. The book deals with three associated aspects of gas-cleaning: the relevant dimensionless groups, the efficiency of separation and the economics of gas cleaning. The text begins with the discussion of the principles of particle separation and classification of equipment; general characteristics of equipment; and dimensionless groups for modeling and equipment scale-up. Subsequent chapters are devoted to the examination of the efficiency of separation, aero-mechanical dry separators, scrubbers, electrostatic precipitators, and filters. The last chapter deals with the economics of gas-cleaning equipment selection. Environmental and industrial engineers will find the text very useful.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Non-Ferrous Metal Powders by : Oleg D Neikov
Download or read book Handbook of Non-Ferrous Metal Powders written by Oleg D Neikov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2009-02-24 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The manufacture and use of the powders of non-ferrous metals has been taking place for many years in what was previously Soviet Russia, and a huge amount of knowledge and experience has built up in that country over the last forty years or so. Although accounts of the topic have been published in the Russian language, no English language account has existed until now. Six prominent academics and industrialists from the Ukraine and Russia have produced this highly-detailed account which covers the classification, manufacturing methods, treatment and properties of the non-ferrous metals ( aluminium, titanium, magnesium, copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, cadmium, lead, tin, bismuth, noble metals and earth metals). The result is a formidable reference source for those in all aspects of the metal powder industry. Covers the manufacturing methods, properties and importance of the following metals: aluminium, titanium, magnesium, copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, cadmium, noble metals, rare earth metals, lead, tin and bismuth Expert Russian team of authors, all very experienced English translation and update of book previously published in Russian

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph consists of ten chapters, with three basic themes. First, gas-separation technology is introduced and the sources and uses of industrial gases are described. The second part includes a description of those industries which use gas separation and an analysis of the gas-separation processes themselves. The last part describes the plant hardware and its design.
Book Synopsis Metal-Organic Framework Materials by : Leonard R. MacGillivray
Download or read book Metal-Organic Framework Materials written by Leonard R. MacGillivray and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 1210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline compounds consisting of rigid organic molecules held together and organized by metal ions or clusters. Special interests in these materials arise from the fact that many are highly porous and can be used for storage of small molecules, for example H2 or CO2. Consequently, the materials are ideal candidates for a wide range of applications including gas storage, separation technologies and catalysis. Potential applications include the storage of hydrogen for fuel-cell cars, and the removal and storage of carbon dioxide in sustainable technical processes. MOFs offer the inorganic chemist and materials scientist a wide range of new synthetic possibilities and open the doors to new and exciting basic research. Metal-Organic Frameworks Materials provides a solid basis for the understanding of MOFs and insights into new inorganic materials structures and properties. The volume also reflects progress that has been made in recent years, presenting a wide range of new applications including state-of-the art developments in the promising technology for alternative fuels. The comprehensive volume investigates structures, symmetry, supramolecular chemistry, surface engineering, recognition, properties, and reactions. The content from this book will be added online to the Encyclopedia of Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry: http://www.wileyonlinelibrary.com/ref/eibc
Book Synopsis Gas Cyclones and Swirl Tubes by : Alex C. Hoffmann
Download or read book Gas Cyclones and Swirl Tubes written by Alex C. Hoffmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been conceived to provide guidance on the theory and design of cyclone systems. Forthose new to the topic, a cyclone is, in its most basic form, a stationary mechanical device that utilizes centrifugal force to separate solid or liquid particles from a carrier gas. Gas enters near the top via a tangential or vaned inlet, which gives rise to an axially descending spiral of gas and a centrifugal force field that causes the incoming particles to concentrate along, and spiral down, the inner walls of the separator. The thus-segregated particulate phase is allowed to exit out an underflow pipe while the gas phase constricts, and - in most separators - reverses its axial direction of flow and exits out a separate overflow pipe. Cyclones are applied in both heavy and light industrial applications and may be designed as either classifiers or separators. Their applications are as plentiful as they are varied. Examples include their use in the separation or classification of powder coatings, plastic fines, sawdust, wood chips, sand, sintered/powdered meta!, plastic and meta! pellets, rock and mineral cmshings, carbon fines, grain products, pulverized coal, chalk, coal and coal ash, catalyst and petroleum coke fines, mist entrained off of various processing units and liquid components from scmbbing and drilling operations. They have even been applied to separate foam into its component gas and liquid phases in recent years.

Book Synopsis Separation of B4C Powder by Air Classification by :
Download or read book Separation of B4C Powder by Air Classification written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large quantities of bulk powder can be separated according to particle size and density by air classifiers. Classifiers disperse the powder and usually achieve size differentiation by drag and centrifugal forces acting on individual particles in the gas stream. A Donaldson ''acucut'' Classifier for the separation of B4C powder is evaluated. Experimental tests were conducted to determine the particle cut sizes and powder yields obtained by variation of operating parameters. To assess the classifier's performance further results of the sharpness of the powder cuts were evaluated and compared with the vendor's prediction. 7 figures, 3 tables.
