Download or read book Naviguer, commercer, gouverner written by Claire Judde de Larivière and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2008-11-30 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The convoys of public galleys, the typical form of Venetian medieval sea-faring, had disappeared gradually by the time of the battle of Lepanto. This disappearance was not the sign of a general economic crisis, but was nevertheless the corollary of important political, economic and social changes which marked the history of sixteenth-century Venice. Through the study of economic actors, their identity, their practices and their functions, this book analyses public and private commercial navigation in relation to the evolution of forms and functions of the State, within a general context of the redefinition of the relationship between public good and private interests.

Download or read book Radio et télévision britanniques written by Renée Dickason and published by PU Rennes. This book was released on 1999 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

His ideas expand the usual range of action and help to understand that there is a sure way to create a large and successful business with the freedom of self-management for both time and decisions. The 7 steps outlined here summarize the author's observations on how to become an entrepreneur with a marketing network, being both a salesman and manager at the same time, selling your own products or those of other companies, establishing your own working hours and working with whom you decide to work, all with a significant income. In these lines, we present the best of these ideas.-ABOUT SAPIENS EDITORIALBooks are mentors. Books can guide what we do and our lives. Many of us love books while reading them and maybe they will echo with us a few weeks after but 2 years later we can't remember if we have read it or not. And that's a shame. We remember that at that time, the book meant a lot to us. Why is it that 2 years later we have forgotten everything? That's not good. This summary is taken from the most important themes of the original book. Most people don't like books. People just want to know what the book says they have to do. If you trust the source you don't need the arguments. So much of a book is arguing its points, but often you don't need the argument if you trust the source you can just get the point. This summary takes the effort to distill the blahs into themes for the people who are just not going to read the whole book. All this information is in the original book.

This book was released on 1997 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Diaspora Politics by : Gabriel Sheffer
Download or read book Diaspora Politics written by Gabriel Sheffer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-04-10 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to fill in a gap in the study of modern ethno-national diasporas. Thus, against the background of current trends - globalization, democratization, the weakening of the nation-state and massive transstate migration, it examines the politics of historical, modern and incipient ethno-national diasporas. It argues that unlike the widely accepted view, ethno-national diasporism and diasporas do not constitute a recent phenomenon. Rather, this is a perennial phenomenon whose roots were in antiquity. Some of the existing diasporas were created in antiquity, some during the Middle Ages and some are modern. An essential aspect of this phenomenon is the endless cultural-social-economic and especially political struggle of these dispersed ethnic groups that permanently reside in host countries away from their homelands to maintain their distinctive identities and connections with their homelands and other dispersed groups of the same nation. While describing and analyzing the diaspora phenomenon, the book sheds light on theoretical questions pertaining to current ethnicity and politics.

Book Synopsis Africa from the Sixteenth to the Eighteenth Century by : Bethwell A. Ogot
Download or read book Africa from the Sixteenth to the Eighteenth Century written by Bethwell A. Ogot and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 1088 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The result of years of work by scholars from all over the world, The UNESCO General History of Africa reflects how the different peoples of Africa view their civilizations and shows the historical relationships between the various parts of the continent. Historical connections with other continents demonstrate Africa's contribution to the development of human civilization. Each volume is lavishly illustrated and contains a comprehensive bibliography. This fifth volume of the acclaimed series covers the history of the continent from the beginning of the sixteenth century to the close of the eighteenth century in which two themes emerge: first, the continuing internal evolution of the states and cultures of Africa during this period second, the increasing involvement of Africa in external trade--with major but unforeseen consequences for the whole world. In North Africa, we see the Ottomans conquer Egypt. South of the Sahara, some of the larger, older states collapse, and new power bases emerge. Traditional religions continue to coexist with both Christianity (suffering setbacks) and Islam (in the ascendancy). Along the coast, particularly of West Africa, Europeans establish a trading network which, with the development of New World plantation agriculture, becomes the focus of the international slave trade. The immediate consequences of this trade for Africa are explored, and it is argued that the long-term global consequences include the foundation of the present world-economy with all its built-in inequalities.
