Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book L'image et les signes written by Martine Joly and published by Armand Colin. This book was released on 2011-08-24 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Sémiotique et Communication by : Jean-Jacques Boutaud
Download or read book Sémiotique et Communication written by Jean-Jacques Boutaud and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Visual Communication by : David Machin
Download or read book Visual Communication written by David Machin and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2014-04-30 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary goal of the volume on "Visual Communication" is to provide a collection of high quality, accessible papers that offer an overview of the different academic approaches to Visual Communication, the different theoretical perspectives on which they are based, the methods of analysis used and the different media and genre that have come under analysis. There is no such existing volume that draws together this range of closely related material generally found in much less related areas of research, including semiotics, art history, design, and new media theory. The volume has a total of 34 individual chapters that are organized into two sections: theories and methods, and areas of visual analysis. The chapters are all written by quality theorists and researchers, with a view that the research should be accessible to non-specialists in their own field while at the same time maintaining a high quality of work. The volume contains an introduction, which plots and locates the different approaches contained in it within broader developments and history of approaches to visual communication across different disciplines as each has attempted to define its terrain sometimes through unique concepts and methods sometimes through those borrowed and modified from others.
Book Synopsis Picturing the New Testament by : Annette Weissenrieder
Download or read book Picturing the New Testament written by Annette Weissenrieder and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2005 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do visual images from the ancient world shed light on New Testament texts? In a methodologically multifaceted manner, the contributions in this volume examine early Christian images with regard to their ancient context. Various New Testament texts (the synoptic gospels, the Johannine and Pauline corpora) are linked to ancient visual images. Various approaches in iconography are summarized and applied to the interpretation of texts, taking account of the strengths and limitations of these images, as well as possible future applications. These essays incorporate current viewpoints from archaeology and the history of art. The topics range from studies of the depictions of Christ and the disciples to the images of humans and the world. This volume provides an innovative basis for the discussion of the iconographic method and the New Testament.
Book Synopsis Cartographic Communication by : Boris Mericskay
Download or read book Cartographic Communication written by Boris Mericskay and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-02-06 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the geological record and the evolution of ideas concerning the Variscan orogenic belt in France and neighboring regions. Volume 1 is based on a general introduction concerning the imprint of the Variscan period on the geology of France, as well as on the particularities of the study of this ancient orogen. A history of the concepts applied to the Variscan belt is proposed in order to consider this orogen in the history of Earth Sciences. A paleogeodynamic analysis of the Variscan cycle sets the general framework for the evolution of the orogen, which is then tackled through the prism of the magmatic, metamorphic and tectonic record of the early phases (from Cambrian to Lower Carboniferous). Volume 2 proposes an analysis of the late evolution of the Variscan orogenic belt, reflecting its dismantling in a high-temperature context during the Upper Carboniferous and Permian. The sedimentary archives are described, as well as the questions raised by the specificities of this ancient orogen.

Book Synopsis Emerging Visions of the Aesthetic Process by : Gerald C. Cupchik
Download or read book Emerging Visions of the Aesthetic Process written by Gerald C. Cupchik and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1992-09-25 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emerging Visions of the Aesthetic Process explores the processes underlying aesthetics and play from the perspectives of psychologists, philosophers, and semiologists. It reveals the different ways in which scholars think about the following questions: (1) What is the origin of the creative process? (2) How do biological, social, and cognitive processes shape the activities of artists and the responses of viewers? (3) How does literary activity draw on our experiences of everyday life and how is it tied to other kinds of media? (4) How does play affect the process of growth from childhood to adulthood? The contributors consider artistic, literary, and play activity from its most biological roots through individual cognitive and emotional processing to its expression at the social level. Emerging Visions of the Aesthetic Process offers a stimulating basis for the discussion of aesthetic processes and will serve as an integrative, comprehensive treatise on the topic for researchers and students.
