Download or read book Advanced Electromagnetism and Vacuum Physics written by Patrick Cornille and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003 with total page 794 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is aimed at a large audience: scientists, engineers, professors and students wise enough to keep a critical stance whenever confronted with the chilling dogmas of contemporary physics. Readers will find a tantalizing amount of material calculated to nurture their thoughts and arouse their suspicion, to some degree at least, on the so-called validity of today's most celebrated physical theories.
Book Synopsis Advanced Electromagnetism: Foundations: Theory And Applications by : Terence William Barrett
Download or read book Advanced Electromagnetism: Foundations: Theory And Applications written by Terence William Barrett and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-11-16 with total page 807 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Electromagnetism: Foundations, Theory and Applications treats what is conventionally called electromagnetism or Maxwell's theory within the context of gauge theory or Yang-Mills theory. A major theme of this book is that fields are not stand-alone entities but are defined by their boundary conditions. The book has practical relevance to efficient antenna design, the understanding of forces and stresses in high energy pulses, ring laser gyros, high speed computer logic elements, efficient transfer of power, parametric conversion, and many other devices and systems. Conventional electromagnetism is shown to be an underdeveloped, rather than a completely developed, field of endeavor, with major challenges in development still to be met.

Book Synopsis Weber’s Electrodynamics by : Andre Koch Torres Assis
Download or read book Weber’s Electrodynamics written by Andre Koch Torres Assis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-09-30 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a substantially complete presentation of the electrodynamics developed by Wilhelm Weber. Weber's force between point charges is explored and thoroughly analysed. Ampère's force between current elements is discussed in connection with modern experiments relating to the Ampère versus Grassmann--Biot--Savart controversy. Ampère's force is a central feature of this work, as Maxwell maintained it should always be in the study of electrodynamics, although it is included in few textbooks on electromagnetism. A detailed study of this force is an outstanding feature of this book. Other topical questions of physics are analysed, such as a potential-dependent inertial mass, Mach's principle and the origin of inertia, action at a distance as opposed to contact actions, etc. No previous knowledge of the subject is required, and all topics are introduced with both their historical backgrounds as well as modern experimental evidence. This volume will appeal to physicists, mathematicians, electrical and electronic engineers, historians and philosophers of science.
Book Synopsis Inductance and Force Calculations in Electrical Circuits by : Marcelo de Almeida Bueno
Download or read book Inductance and Force Calculations in Electrical Circuits written by Marcelo de Almeida Bueno and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2001 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the two fundamental subjects of electromagnetism. It is a useful text for courses in electromagnetism, electrical circuits, mathematical methods of physics, and the history and philosophy of science. It covers how to calculate force between two current carrying circuits, and net force on a part of a closed circuit. The calculation of the mutual inductance between two circuits and self-inductance of a single closed circuit is also described. Experiments explain the main expressions of Ampere and Grassmann. A must to help deepen the knowledge of the mind of any student of science.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hidden Hypotheses Behind the Big Bang It is quite unavoidable that many philosophical a priori assumptions lurk behind the debate between supporters of the Big Bang and the anti-BB camp. The same battle has been waged in physics between the determinists and the opposing viewpoint. Therefore, by way of introduction to this symposium, I would like to discuss, albeit briefly, the many "hypotheses", essentially of a metaphysical nature, which are often used without being clearly stated. The first hypothesis is the idea that the Universe has some origin, or origins. Opposing this is the idea that the Universe is eternal, essentially without beginning, no matter how it might change-the old Platonic system, opposed by an Aristote lian view! Or Pope Pius XII or Abbe Lemaitre or Friedmann versus Einstein or Hoyle or Segal, etc. The second hypothesis is the need for a "minimum of hypotheses" -the sim plicity argument. One is expected to account for all the observations with a mini mum number of hypotheses or assumptions. In other words, the idea is to "save the phenomena", and this has been an imperative since the time of Plato and Aristotle. But numerous contradictions have arisen between the hypotheses and the facts. This has led some scientists to introduce additional entities, such as the cosmologi cal constant, dark matter, galaxy mergers, complicated geometries, and even a rest mass for the photon. Some of the proponents of the latter idea were Einstein, de Broglie, Findlay-Freundlich, and later Vigier and myself.

Download or read book Fundamentals in Nuclear Physics written by Jean-Louis Basdevant and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covers all the phenomenological and experimental data on nuclear physics and demonstrates the latest experimental developments that can be obtained. Introduces modern theories of fundamental processes, in particular the electroweak standard model, without using the sophisticated underlying quantum field theoretical tools. Incorporates all major present applications of nuclear physics at a level that is both understandable by a majority of physicists and scientists of many other fields, and usefull as a first introduction for students who intend to pursue in the domain.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Condensed Matter Physics by : Marvin L. Cohen
Download or read book Fundamentals of Condensed Matter Physics written by Marvin L. Cohen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-05-26 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on an established course and covering the fundamentals, central areas and contemporary topics of this diverse field, Fundamentals of Condensed Matter Physics is a much-needed textbook for graduate students. The book begins with an introduction to the modern conceptual models of a solid from the points of view of interacting atoms and elementary excitations. It then provides students with a thorough grounding in electronic structure and many-body interactions as a starting point to understand many properties of condensed matter systems - electronic, structural, vibrational, thermal, optical, transport, magnetic and superconducting - and methods to calculate them. Taking readers through the concepts and techniques, the text gives both theoretically and experimentally inclined students the knowledge needed for research and teaching careers in this field. It features 246 illustrations, 9 tables and 100 homework problems, as well as numerous worked examples, for students to test their understanding. Solutions to the problems for instructors are available at www.cambridge.org/cohenlouie.
