The insight revealed through the combination of these two methods provides us with a set of meaningful analytical tools for dealing with location problems. As a test of these tools attention is directed toward a specific case in complex historical and environmental circumstances. This case will illustrate the principles involved in locational analysis and will suggest modifications to be made in the general theory as applied to concrete examples. Thus, our approach has two implications: it shows the importance of a theoretical framework for the analysis and it makes the conclusions more realistic and reliable.
