Book excerpt: EMPOWERED If you want to know who you are in Christ and why you are empowered? Read this book. What are you empowered to do? Jesus was the seed of the woman. You are the seed of Jesus Christ because every born-again believer was born out of Him. He died to give you new life. One seed gave rise to hundreds and thousands of more seeds. If we truly love the Seed of the woman, then we will enthusiastically and willingly obey His mandate. Did Christ delegate His authority to just a few? Is this mandate given to every believer? Did He create every human being upon this earth? Does He love every human being and want them to come to the knowledge of Christ? Read this book. It will not only motivate, increase your faith, help you to live out Jesus Christ, make you faithful but also help you live a prosperous and a victorious life. This book will show how you are living below your expectation. There is a miracle in every seed! You are empowered to sow that seed. THE SEED IS THE WORD. Life! What is life? Life is encapsulated in a seed. The seed is the Word. Words, Words, Words! Powerful words! This must find an abiding place in the heart of the would be believers. The Holy Spirit hovers over the man. The Spirit and the Word work together. The Spirit helps to break up the fallow ground of the heart, causing furrows. The Word brings conviction which engenders repentance. The hearing ear causes the word to be embedded in the furrows of the heart. The rain of the Spirit helps the seed in the heart to germinate. The angelic host, sing hallelujah! A child is born into the Kingdom of God. What a joyous moment! Birthing always brings with it great rejoicing and joy unspeakable. Why did Jesus take those thirty nine stripes on His back? His flesh on His back was torn causing bleeding and gaping furrows. The seeds that fell into these furrows birthed the first fruits of His ministry. The Seed of the woman, who was scourged, broken and bruised did not go through this agony and pain in vain. His death on the cross birthed hundreds and millions of souls. Being born out of Jesus Christ is real life! Abundant life! Eternal life! THE SEED FAITH Faith! What is faith? Oh faithless and perverse generation Everyone has a measure of faith. How does this measure of faith translate to faith that moves mountains. Faith is seed. The seed is the Word. Faith grows as the Word is heard. Faith flourishes and matures to bear fruit. How does this happen? The increase comes by hearing and hearing again the Word. Whether one is hearing the Word from the lips of others or listening to ones own voice or meditating on the Word or reading silently, the inner ear is listening to the Word. As this word enters the heart it becomes the Rhema Word. Living out the Word helps faith to grow. For without faith it is impossible to please God ( Hebrews 11 : 6 ) Obedience flows out of our faith in God. The Spirit of the Word has the dunamis power to increase our spiritual faith. Faith is like the electrifying power as we surrender in homage to our Creator God. Abraham is a very good example of such a faith He obeyed God without question. No wonder that he is referred to as the Friend of God. He walked with God and he sensitized his ear to hearing from God. God is not asking for big faith but faith the size of a seed. If your faith is a seed it will germinate and grow. When faith matures it will bear fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty fold and others hundred fold. So faith is a fruit that God loves in everyone of us. If you have faith as a mustard seed you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, it will move and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17: 18 20 THE SEED ANOINTINGou set apart and sanctified? Do you need protection and strength? Do you need empowerment to be defensive and offensive? You need to be empowered by the Spirit of God. He will fill you with His pow

These narratives speak to the daily struggles women face in the workforce, such as inflexible and long work hours, masculine workplace cultures, employers’ stereotypical attitudes, and the absence of work-life balance initiatives. Viewed from a sociological perspective, the authors emphasize the reoccurring themes of devaluation, exploitation, and dehumanization of female workers resulting from unconscious or implicit bias and which directly impacts women’s quality of life.

Book excerpt: The Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice known as Dzogchen is a pragmatic method for getting in touch with the pure, clear awareness that is hidden under our constant flow of anxious thoughts. Dzogchen Essentials makes available the methods to meet and utilize this rich spiritual path. Marcia Binder Schmidt, a long time, close attendant to one of the foremost Dzogchen Masters of the last century, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, has put together the most comprehensive and accessible collection of the essential instructions vital to this subject. She has organized them into a handbook for the genuine trainee of this tradition. The book includes a useful preface an introductory teaching by a leading Dzogchen Master as well as classical and original pieces that impart crucial explanations. This is a book for the layperson as well as the scholar. For centuries, Dzogchen has been a secretly held and privately transmitted teaching, which was unknown beyond the confines of Tibetan culture. But that changed in the final decades of the last century, as many Tibetans saw the long-awaited unfolding of a famous ninth-century prophecy: "When the Dark Age is rampant, the Dzogchen teachings will blaze like wildfire."

Book excerpt: Principles, Strategies, and Techniques for Mobilizing Child Participation in the Development Process Empowering Children is especially designed for field practitioners seeking ways to encourage young people—particularly the marginalized—to become more involved in changing their circumstances. Through dozens of exercises and lessons, the book presents a variety of practical methods for engaging children in the development process—from assessments to evaluations. Discussions on issues such as personal empowerment, self-esteem, problem analysis, and child protection can equip leaders to help children serve as agents of change who understand how valuable they are. The book concludes with preparations for a community child participation plan. From a Christian perspective, the realization that all children have dignity and are created in the image of God helps us to see that every child's input is valuable. The Bible's concepts of community, church, and mission further help us to see that God not only uses kids in his wonderful plan, but that he also wants all of his children—male, female, young, and old—to participate in his work in the world.

Book excerpt: This edited volume presents the conference papers from the 1st International Conference on Business, Economics, Management, and Sustainability (BEMAS), organized by the Centre for International Trade and Business in Asia (CITBA) at James Cook University. This book argues that the orthodox methods of external risks, climate change adaptation plans, and sustainable economic growth in cities are no longer adequate. These methods, so far, have not only ignored the ongoing structural changes associated with economic development but also failed to account for evolving industries’ composition and the emergence of new comparative advantages and skills. Specifically, this book looks at the vulnerable communities and exposed areas, particularly in urban areas, that tend to experience higher susceptibility to external risks (such as climate change, natural disasters, and public health emergencies) have been largely ignored in incremental adaptation plans. Vulnerable communities and areas not only require different adaptive responses to climate risk but also possess unlocked adaptive capacity that can motivate different patterns of sustainable development to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda. It is essential, therefore, to view transformative growth and fundamental reorientation of economic resources as integral parts of the solution. Social disorganisation and vulnerability are other undesired outcomes of the unpredictable and widespread external economic shocks. This is due to a sudden and tough competition between members of society to acquire precious resources, most of which may be depleted during unprecedented events such as natural disasters or pandemics resulting in an even more chaotic and disorganised conditions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mahila Samakhya is as much a story of a government programme for women's education and empowerment as it is of the celebration of the struggles of poor women for gender just rights. Spread across eight states and more than 150 districts in India, the Mahila Samakhya programme grew out of a unique partnership between the women's movement and the government. In this collection of essays, concerned scholars from different parts of India chart Mahila Samakhya's fascinating journey of setting up poor women's collectives and women's agency in establishing an equal space and voice in the public domain - a radical departure from the more common approaches of organising women around economic concerns. The writers explore broad gender issues grounded within the field experience of Mahila Samakhya, providing insights into the workings of the programme at different levels, its conceptual challenges, strategic choices, the opportunities and pitfalls of partnership with government and above all the willingness of poor women to come together voluntarily to address and overcome gender barriers.
