El conjunto de temas incluidos representa una información minima con la cual empezar el camino de discernimiento sobre esta vocación única, que diferencia y guía la vida y servicio apostólico del seglar en la Iglesia y en el mundo. De igual forma, constituye un resumen propicio para la formación de todo franciscano seglar.Para este trabajo, me motiva el deber como franciscano seglar de promover la vocación a la Orden y de colaborar en la formación del hermano (cf. Constituciones Generales 45.1 y 37.2; cf. Regla 23). Igualmente, me motiva poder ofrecer una obediente y alegre contribución que sea a modo de piedra viva en la nueva evangelización de la realidad cotidiana (cf. Regla 6). Me determina el recuerdo de la consigna de Francisco cuando, próximo a la muerte, exhorta a los hermanos: “Comencemos, hermanos, a servir al Señor Dios, pues escaso es o poco lo que hemos adelantado” (1C 103). Y como la santa Madre Teresa de Calcuta, “a veces siento que lo que hacemos es tan solo una gota en el mar, pero el mar sería menos si le faltara una gota”.En la Audiencia General, el 22 de mayo de 2013, ante los peregrinos en la Plaza de San Pedro, el Papa Francisco, hablando de la alegría de evangelizar, nos recuerda: “Evangelizar es la misión de la Iglesia, no sólo de algunos, sino la mía, la tuya, nuestra misión”. El recordatorio del Santo Padre va dirigido a todos los bautizados, pero indiscutiblemente resulta ser una confirmación de la convocatoria a los franciscanos seglares que nos hace la Regla a asociarnos a la obediencia redentora de Jesús, cumpliendo fielmente nuestras obligaciones de acuerdo con la condición y circunstancias de nuestra vida seglar (cf. Regla 10; Heb 5,8; Flp 2,8). El evangelizar nuestro entorno es vocación del franciscano seglar.
