Book excerpt: We present[ital H][sub 0] candidate events, where the[ital H][sub 0] is observed through the decay[ital H][sub 0][r-arrow][Sigma][sup -][ital p]. These decays are reconstructed in the three TPC modules of E810 while triggering on central[ital Si Pb] events at 14.6 x A GeV/c[ital Si] beam. There is considerable interest in searching for strange quark matter (strangelets). The lowest strangelet state is thought to be a six quark dibaryon singlet spin zero state called the[ital H][sub 0]. A major decay channel is[ital H][sub 0][r-arrow][Sigma][sup -][ital p]. This channel is detectable if one only measures the charged particles that come from the decay.

Presented here are the upper limit for strangelet production, invariant cross sections for p, t, d, 3He, 4He, 6He, 8He, 6Li, 7Li, 8Li and 7Be, along with a demonstration of their agreement with a coalescence model fit to data collected by E886 during the 1992 engineering run, and upper limits for production cross sections for other rare objects, such as (H dibaryon)-nucleus systems. All results reported are preliminary.
