Der Essay soll die wellenförmige Entwicklungsgeschichte der Schulsozialarbeit, welche anfänglich nur randständig etabliert und darüber hinaus nur unzureichend in die Organisation der Schule eingebunden war, hin zu ihrer aktuellen Bedeutungssteigerung und Positionierung, näher beleuchten. Die Verwendung des Terminus der Schulsozialarbeit geht zurück auf einen Artikel zur Einzelfallhilfe, der von Maas (1966) in einem Handbuch über die Grundbegriffe und Methoden der Sozialarbeit veröffentlicht wurde und wiederum von Abels (1971) unter Bezugnahme auf die amerikanische "School Social Work", in einem Beitrag zur Schulsozialarbeit aufgegriffen wurde. Generell war der Diskurs um die Zusammenarbeit von Schule und Jugendhilfe im institutionellen Rahmen der Schule, von Beginn an geprägt von einer Diskussion über eine angemessene Bezeichnung, sodass sich vielfältige unterschiedliche Begrifflichkeiten entwickelten, die vereinzelt heute noch präsent sind.

Die Relevanz dieses Handlungsfeldes könnte derzeit nicht höher sein, da im Zuge aktueller gesellschaftlicher Veränderungen die Schulsozialarbeit ein wichtiges Standbein der Schulen darstellt. Genauer geht es um aktuelle Migrationsbewegungen, die Entwicklung hin zur Ganztagsbetreuung, sowie die Etablierung inklusiver Schulen. Diese wissenschaftliche Arbeit soll zu Beginn eine kurze Definition von Schulsozialarbeit geben und darüber aufklären, mit welchen spezifischen Tätigkeitsfeldern sich ein Schulsozialarbeiter oder eine Schulsozialarbeiterin konfrontiert sieht. Danach folgt der geschichtliche Hintergrund des Handlungsfeldes. Zuerst sollen dabei die Wurzeln und Ursprünge von Schulsozialarbeit aufgezeigt werden, um im Anschluss die Entwicklung der Schulsozialarbeit, wie wir sie heute kennen, geschichtlich zu beleuchten. Um die geschichtliche Verortung abzuschließen, wird kurz der aktuelle Stand der Schulsozialarbeit illustriert. Anschließend soll die Organisation der Schulsozialarbeit dargelegt werden. Im Zuge dessen sollen zuerst die rechtlichen Grundlagen abgehandelt werden. Zu Beginn wird der gesetzliche Auftrag der Schulen am Beispiel NRW erörtert, um anschließend herauszufinden, ob Schulsozialarbeit in Deutschland gesetzlich verankert ist. Daraufhin werden die bestehenden Trägerstrukturen demonstriert, gefolgt von der Finanzierung der Schulsozialarbeit. Es folgen im vorletzten Abschnitt dieser Arbeit Kompetenzdarstellungen von professionellen Fachkräften, die speziell auf das Handlungsfeld Schulsozialarbeit zugeschnittenen sind. Book excerpt: An investigation into the use of information communication technologies by refugees during flight, displacement and in settlement, this book examines the impact of Australia’s official policy of mandatory detention on how asylum seekers and refugees maintain links to diasporas and networks of support. Given the restricted contact with the world outside of the immigration detention centre, the book juxtaposes forms and processes of technology-mediated communication between institutionalised detention, with those of displacement and settlement. It finds that while there are obstacles to communication in situations of conflict and dislocation, asylum seekers and refugees are able to ‘make do’ with the technology options available to them in ways which were less constrained than in detention settings. The book also outlines how communication practices during the settlement process focus on learning new technologies, and repairing the disconnections with family members resulting from separation and detention.
