Book excerpt: Aliens at school! Extraterrestrials on the playground! For the past 170 years, schools across the United States and the world have been targeted and visited by UFOs. These are not simple fly-overs. In these cases, the objects hover for long periods at extremely low elevation, often landing next to the school. In many cases, humanoids are seen. Elementary schools, junior high and high schools, colleges and universities -- all have been targeted. The ETs are here, and they are coming for our children.March 15, 1950, thirty-one students at Prestonburg Elementary School, in Prestonburg, Kentucky observe a fleet of UFOs.Summer, 1952, Joan Torrance and dozens of other students at Elder Park Elementary School in Glasgow, Scotland see a metallic saucer hover 30 feet above the school.October 22, 1955, sixty students at Jerome Elementary School in Marysville, Ohio observe a dramatic UFO display, including physical evidence in the form of angel hair.March 21, 1966, eighty-seven students at Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Michigan observe a UFO land in front of the school.April 6, 1966, more than 200 students at Westall High School, in Melbourne, Australia, observe three or four UFOs, one of which lands next to the school.April 7, 1967, more than 200 students at Crestview Elementary School in Opa-locka, Florida, observe a UFO land next to the school.March 17, 1970, more than 400 students at Richmond School in Maraenui, New Zealand observe a UFO hover overhead.February 4, 1977, fourteen students at Broad Haven Elementary School in Haverfordwest, South Wales encounter a landed UFO with occupants.September 16, 1994, more than sixty-two students at Ariel Elementary School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe observe a landed UFO with occupants. And this is just the beginning. This unique and groundbreaking book documents more than 100 cases of schoolyard UFO encounters. Why are extraterrestrials hovering over and landing next to schools? Why are the ETs so interested in our children?Schoolyard UFO Encounters, by longtime researcher Preston Dennett, answers all these questions and more. Something very profound is happening here.

Book excerpt: “Interesting...Bowlin's calmly rational approach to the subject of conspiracy theories shows the importance of logic and evidence.”—Booklist "A page-turning book to give to someone who believes in pizza pedophilia or that the Illuminati rule the world."—Kirkus Reviews The co-hosts of the hit podcast Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know, Ben Bowlin, Matthew Frederick, & Noel Brown, discern conspiracy fact from fiction in this sharp, humorous, compulsively readable, and gorgeously illustrated book. In times of chaos and uncertainty, when trust is low and economic disparity is high, when political institutions are crumbling and cultural animosities are building, conspiracy theories find fertile ground. Many are wild, most are untrue, a few are hard to ignore, but all of them share one vital trait: there’s a seed of truth at their center. That seed carries the sordid, conspiracy-riddled history of our institutions and corporations woven into its DNA. Ben Bowlin, Matt Frederick, and Noel Brown host the popular iHeart Media podcast, Stuff They Don’t Want You To Know. They are experts at exploring, explaining, and interrogating today’s emergent conspiracies—from chem trails and biological testing to the secrets of lobbying and the indisputable evidence of UFOs. Written in a smart, witty, and conversational style, elevated with amazing illustrations, Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know is a vital book in understanding the nature of conspiracy and using truth as a powerful weapon against ignorance, misinformation, and lies.

Book excerpt: UFOs at the Drive-In!Just imagine: you're watching your favorite movie at the local drive-in theater when suddenly you see a strange flying object swoop down from above and hover right over the movie screen. The object is metallic, saucer-shaped, with portholes and colored lights, and is totally silent. It's a UFO! Cars start honking and flashing their lights. People exit their cars, pointing and screaming. Some drive away in terror. Then the UFO starts to move around over the theater putting on a show that's far more interesting than the movie itself! It may sound like science fiction, except it's true! This unique and groundbreaking book, by veteran UFO researcher Preston Dennett, documents more than 100 firsthand cases in which UFOs have targeted drive-in theaters. In these cases, UFOs hover at very low levels for long periods of time, and are observed by hundreds of witnesses. Often there are strange electromagnetic effects. Sometimes humanoids are seen. -ARIZONA, APRIL 1952: A metallic structured object hovers over the Yuma Drive-In Theater in Arizona, not once, but multiple times. -CALIFORNIA, AUGUST 1952: Visitors at the Terrace Drive-In undergo an incredible encounter, causing an investigation that reaches the highest levels of government. -MISSOURI, JULY 17, 1954: Peter Davenport and hundreds of others sight a glowing object at the Skyline Drive-In. Davenport later becomes the director of NUFORC. -MASSACHUSETTS, MAY 1963: A fleet of eight UFOs appears over the Wellington Circle Twins Drive-In, and puts on a display lasting an incredible 45 minutes long. -GEORGIA, JUNE 29, 1964: A large metallic saucer swoops repeatedly over the crowded Atlanta Drive-In, causing the audience to flee in panic. -OHIO, MID-1960s: UFOs swoop so low over the Mentor Drive-In that the movie is shut off so that the audience can enjoy the unexpected bonus show in the sky above. -KANSAS, 1966: Hundreds of people see a UFO hover directly next to the Southutch Drive-In, causing the entire audience to chase the object down the highway. -CALIFORNIA, 1972: The audience at the Paramount Drive-In flees in panic as a metallic saucer swoops down and hovers right next to the movie screen. -FLORIDA, 1973: When a metallic UFO hovers over the Fort Lauderdale Drive-In, the audience is amazed to see strange occupants peering from the portholes. -NEW YORK, 1974: Viewers at the East Park Drive-In are stunned to see a UFO hover over the parking lot and start sending beams of light onto the movie screen itself! -OHIO, 1974: A UFO targets the Ascot Park Drive-In, blacking out the movie and causing the entire audience to become hypnotically entranced. -MAINE, JUNE 15, 1975: A UFO buzzes the audience of the Portland Twin Drive-In Theater, causing the audiences for two separate movies to race away in fear. -CHINA, JULY 7, 1977: Three hundred people are injured and two are killed when a low-flying UFO targets an open-air showing of a movie to a crowd of 3000 people. -CALIFORNIA, 1983: The entire audience panics and drives away when a UFO swoops down and hovers right next to the movie screen of the Edgewood Drive-In. -OHIO, SEPTEMBER 2004: The entire audience observes a UFO which hovers above the Wilmington Drive-In and stays there for the entire length of the movie. There are too many cases to deny. This area of UFO research has been ignored for too long. Something profound is happening here. This book reveals a bizarre type of UFO behavior that only a lucky few have ever seen. So, come along on a fascinating journey that is sure to change the way you feel about UFOs.

This information has been kept in Top Secret government files since the 1940s. His audiences hear the truth unfold as he writes about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the war on drugs, the Secret Government and UFOs. Bill is a lucid, rational and powerful speaker who intent is to inform and to empower his audience. Standing room only is normal. His presentation and information transcend partisan affiliations as he clearly addresses issues in a way that has a striking impact on listeners of all backgrounds and interests. He has spoken to many groups throughout the United States and has appeared regularly on many radio talk shows and on television. In 1988 Bill decided to "talk" due to events then taking place worldwide, events which he had seen plans for back in the early '70s. Since Bill has been "talking," he has correctly predicted the lowering of the Iron Curtain, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the invasion of Panama. All Bill's predictions were on record well before the events occurred. Bill is not a psychic. His information comes from Top Secret documents that he read while with the Intelligence Briefing Team and from over 17 years of thorough research. "Bill Cooper is the world's leading expert on UFOs." -- Billy Goodman, KVEG, Las Vegas. "The onlt man in America who has all the pieces to the puzzle that has troubled so many for so long." -- Anthony Hilder, Radio Free America "William Cooper may be one of America's greatest heros, and this story may be the biggest story in the history of the world." -- Mills Crenshaw, KTALK, Salt Lake City. "Like it or not, everything is changing. The result will be the most wonderful experience in the history of man or the most horrible enslavement that you can imagine. Be active or abdicate, the future is in your hands." -- William Cooper, October 24, 1989.

An anthropologist in Bahia, Brazil, fears to become possessed by the spirits he had come to study; falls madly in love withan 'informant'; finds himself baffled by the sayings of a clairvoyant; and has to come to grips with the murder of one of his best friends. Unsettling events that do not belong to the orderly world of scientific research, yet leave their imprint on the way the anthropologist comes to understand the world. REflecting on his long research experience with the spirit possession cult Candomblâe, the author shows, in a probing manner, how definitions of reality always require the exclusion of certain perceptions, experiences and insights. And yet, this 'rest-of-what-is' turns out to be an inexhaustible source of amazement, seduction and renewal." --P [4] of cover.

Wolf and Bernard Perron, is both a close analysis of the first three Silent Hill games and a general look at the whole series. Silent Hill, with its first title released in 1999, is one of the most influential of the horror video game series. Perron situates the games within the survival horror genre, both by looking at the history of the genre and by comparing Silent Hill with such important forerunners as Alone in the Dark and Resident Evil. Taking a transmedia approach and underlining the designer's cinematic and literary influences, he uses the narrative structure; the techniques of imagery, sound, and music employed; the game mechanics; and the fiction, artifact, and gameplay emotions elicited by the games to explore the specific fears survival horror games are designed to provoke and how the experience as a whole has made the Silent Hill series one of the major landmarks of video game history.

Book excerpt: Mark Wilson presents a highly original and broad-ranging investigation of the way we get to grips with the world conceptually, and the way that philosophical problems commonly arise from this. Words such as colour, shape, solidity exemplify the commonplace conceptual tools we employ to describe and order the world around us. But the world's goods are complex in their behaviors and we often overlook the subtle adjustments that our evaluative terms undergo as their usage becomes gradually adapted to different forms of supportive circumstance. Wilson not only explains how these surprising strategies of hidden management operate, but also tells the astonishing story of how faulty schemes and great metaphysical systems sometimes spring from a simple failure to recognize the innocent wanderings to which our descriptive words are heir. Wilson combines traditional philosophical concerns about human conceptual thinking with illuminating data derived from a large variety of fields including physics and applied mathematics, cognitive psychology, and linguistics. Wandering Significance offers abundant new insights and perspectives for philosophers of language, mind, and science, and will also reward the interest of psychologists, linguists, and anyone curious about the mysterious ways in which useful language obtains its practical applicability.

This eminent Harvard psychiatrist and Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer risked his career to investigate the phenomenon of human encounters with aliens and to give credibility to the stupefying tales shared by people who were utterly convinced they had happened. Nothing in Mack's four decades of psychiatry had prepared him for the otherworldly accounts of a cross section of humanity including young children who reported being taken against their wills by alien beings. Over the course of his career his interest in alien abduction grew from curiosity to wonder, ultimately developing into a limitless, unwavering passion. Based on exclusive access to Mack's archives, journals, and psychiatric notes and interviews with his family and closest associates, The Believer reveals the life and work of a man who explored the deepest of scientific conundrums and further leads us to the hidden dimensions and alternate realities that captivated Mack until the end of his life.

Book excerpt: The e-mail Danny and Allison read on their new computer in 1996 looks no different from the millions of others received by Web users around the world, with one glaring exception--it was sent by their dads who died during the 1970s. While residing in the afterworld at an amenity-laden paradise called Midway Manor, guitar-strumming Mickey Parks and piano-playing Lloyd Wallace monitor and manipulate the lives of their adult children on earth from the mid-'70s through the 1990s. Tampering with the facility's sophisticated computer, the dads thrust Mickey's daughter Allison and Lloyd's son Danny into a passionate but sometimes stormy relationship-a relationship steeped in Danny's heavy drinking and entangled in the often-zany world of men's adventure magazine publishing. After carefully implementing a plan to send their son and daughter a gift of knowledge that could enrich their lives forever, the dads' brief contact is cut short. They are banished to another destination in the afterworld, but not before they impart indisputable proof of life after death--and unwittingly put Danny's and Allison's earthbound lives on the line.

Book excerpt: Could it be that extraterrestrials are visiting our planet and healing people? That's exactly what UFO investigator Preston Dennett proposes in his new book. This book will force you into a new reality -- that beings not of this world are indeed real and that they are here. Hundreds of cases of people being healed of serious afflictions by extraterrestrials are presented, in many different types of healings. Not the whimsical fantasy of an over-worked UFO investigator, they are instead cold, hard facts taken from a thorough and complete investigation into the medically validated cases of the phenomenon of ET healing.
