Nor is it probable that there are many areas of similar extent in which this group of insects is represented by a larger or more diversified list of species. Small as this peninsula is, more species are now known to occur out of doors within it than have been recorded in any of the various state lists that have been published (deducting synonyms), and it should be borne in mind that in all these lists there are included numerous species known only from their occurrence in greenhouses.
