Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete guide for everything you need to experience a great Long Weekend in historic SAVANNAH. (Also nearby Tybee Island.) One of my favorite places because I visited often when I had a girlfriend there in my college days. And since my family originated in Charleston, I've always had a fondness for the Charleston-Savannah rivalry for "Best Historic Southern Town." "We had been to Charleston the previous year, and used the Delaplaine guide for that trip, which turned out so nicely, we thought we'd try the one he wrote for Savannah. Just as helpful, and actually a lot more information than you could ever hope to cover in a Long Weekend." --- Morris J., Seattle "We've always been fans of Charleston, but had never been to Savannah before. Attending a business conference in nearby Hilton Head, I decided to get this book, extend my trip by 2 days, and had a truly magical time in Savannah, a place I will definitely return to." --- Fred H., Dayton You'll save a lot of time using this concise guide. =Lodgings (throughout the area) variously priced =Fine & budget restaurants, more than enough listings to give you a sense of the variety to be found. =Principal attractions -- don't waste your precious time on the lesser ones. We've done all the work for you. =A handful of interesting shopping ideas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete guide for everything you need to experience a great Long Weekend in Charleston. When Charles Pinckney, signer of the Declaration of Independence, was asked sarcastically where Charleston was, he replied, "Why, Sir, it is where the Ashley and the Cooper rivers meet to form the Atlantic Ocean." More history than you can shake a stick at here in Charleston. I ought to know. We have family buried in the historic French Huguenot church located at 136 Church Street. (Huguenots were French Protestants that fled from France after the Catholics started slaughtering them in the mid-1500s. Our family came over in the early 1600s.) "We've always wanted to visit both Savannah and Charleston. We chose Charleston first. It's so wonderful that we can't wait to get to Savannah to compare." ---Beatrice K., San Diego "Forget all this history. I come to Charleston for the food. There's a culinary rebirth going on in the South, and it's centered in Charleston, so any foodie is going to have a great time. All the top spots-and some surprises-are listed in this book." -Gerald S., Kansas City. You'll save a lot of time using this concise guide. =LODGINGS (in several parts of Atlanta) variously priced =FINE & BUDGET RESTAURANTS, more than enough listings to give you a sense of the variety to be found. =PRINCIPAL ATTRACTIONS -- don't waste your precious time on the lesser ones. This book was released on 2019-03-30 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collaboration across boundaries is widely recognized as a vital requisite for the advancement of innovative science to address problems such as environmental degradation and global change. This book takes collaboration across boundaries seriously by focusing on the many challenges and practices involved in team science when spanning disciplinary, organizational, national and other divides. The authors draw on a shared framework for managing the challenges of collaboration across boundaries as applied to the science of understanding complex social-ecological systems. Teams working across boundaries on diverse social-ecological systems in countries around the world report their challenges and share their practices, outcomes and lessons learned. From these diverse experiences arise many commonalities and also some important differences. These provide the basis for a set of recommendations to any collaborators intending to use science as a tool to better understand social-ecological systems and to improve their management and governance.

Book excerpt: SARA GARDEN ARMSTRONG: Threads and Layers brings to a wider audience this multimedia artist's diverse body of work. Illuminating essays and lavish photography reveal the connective threads that run through her impressive oeuvre of more than four decades. The monograph tells the captivating story of an artist from Alabama who went to New York City for a season and stayed 36 years. Bold and innovative, full of complexity and contradictions, her work ranges from interactive installations and atrium sculptures to paintings, drawings, and artist's books. This book coincides with the opening of a traveling exhibition of the same name."Encompassing an extraordinarily wide array of concepts and ideals, Armstrong's work has explored microcosmic as well as macrocosmic phenomena, as it has embraced the rhythmic vicissitudes of change. [It] has a resounding impact for today, and vast implications for whatever tomorrow may bring."David Ebony, critic, author, and contributing editor, Art in America, Yale University Press online, artnet "Armstrong hasn't given us an easy picture of physical or behavioral characteristics specific to her art, but has rather served a lyrical impression of the kind of rapturous disorientation one often experiences within the charged primal spaces of her compositions."Carlo McCormick, American culture critic, author and curator

Book Synopsis The Analytic Hierarchy Process in Natural Resource and Environmental Decision Making by : Daniel L. Schmoldt
Download or read book The Analytic Hierarchy Process in Natural Resource and Environmental Decision Making written by Daniel L. Schmoldt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-06-30 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decision making in land management involves preferential selection among competing alternatives. Often, such choices are difficult owing to the complexity of the decision context. Because the analytic hierarchy process (AHP, developed by Thomas Saaty in the 1970s) has been successfully applied to many complex planning, resource allocation, and priority setting problems in business, energy, health, marketing, natural resources, and transportation, more applications of the AHP in natural resources and environmental sciences are appearing regularly. This realization has prompted the authors to collect some of the important works in this area and present them as a single volume for managers and scholars. Because land management contains a somewhat unique set of features not found in other AHP application areas, such as site-specific decisions, group participation and collaboration, and incomplete scientific knowledge, this text fills a void in the literature on management science and decision analysis for forest resources.
