Book excerpt: Sarah Zak. Born in Germany, she started her career as a hairstylist and makeup artist before discovering the world of analog photography in 2016. From the beginning, her main topic was clear: beautiful women. With passion and a love for travel, she found women from all over the world who were willing to show themselves in front of her camera. What started as a hobby slowly developed into a bigger vision. Today, Sarah focuses mainly on her project "sarahlikesprettygirls". In addition to her publications on social media, with a wide reach and awareness, she now also collaborates with galleries and other artists around the world. For her second photo book, she chose Mexico City as the setting. The city fascinated her with its colors, its energy and its history and architecture. There she met and took portraits of numerous women - locals and travelers alike. Each photograph was captured on 35mm film, creating an "analog imperfection" that, in addition to its natural aesthetic, creates a special closeness to the women photographed. In a world of nude photography dominated by men, Sarah Zak's work breaks down stereotypes and creates a space for a unique beauty and power in women. Immerse yourself in this special collaboration and experience the sensual and inspiring world of female nude photography.

Book excerpt: An ode to the natural. Analogue and intimate nude photography from Berlin.0Sometimes imperfect is the perfect. Sarah Zak?s work represents exactly that. It?s a refreshing honest pictorial of women made by women. No artificial posing, no stilted?photoshop-bodies?, just real images of girls that are anyhow a lot m ore attractive than anything that?s artificially modified. This is an ode to naturalness. And so good to see in a world where anyhow so many things are edited to the utmost. (Christine Guggenberger).

Book excerpt: Fanny is an extended portrait of a young girl's transition from child to woman. Made over a period of twenty-three years, the images are at once beautiful in their detail of light and identity, as well as frankly anthropological in their descriptive effect. A naturist since birth, Fanny's comfort with nudity and her natural self has allowed Sturges to draw an engaging portrait of the evolution of a human being with few social distractions. His access to the girl's and woman's character is direct and fascinating. Long known for his extended portraits of children and adolescents, this book is strong evidence of Sturges's permanent commitment to the people in his work.

Once again employing a large format and lavish production to showcase the unique art and design of Roger Dean, this iconic book was a retrospective of the astonishing breadth of work accomplished since the publication of its predecessor. Through Views and Magnetic Storm, Roger Dean established a devoted readership, while Dragon's Dream (2008) demonstrates how his visionary work has continued to illuminate an age of digital animation, computer games, and virtual worlds. Embracing designs for record sleeves, rock stages, movie projects, architecture, games consoles, landscapes, and books, Magnetic Storm features everything from innovative aircraft livery to the Yes logo. This new edition streamlines the original format and retains the combination of concept sketches and the finished works. Featuring revised design and typography, a new foreword, and a newly finished painting that Roger supplied especially for the front cover of this edition, Magnetic Storm showcases and celebrates the art that defined an era.

Book excerpt: In a Third Look, Joseph Maida reflects on Lee Friedlander's nudes from the 1970's and 80's, reinterpreting this series as a cutting edge homage both to Friedlander, the modernist titan of photography, and to LGBTQAI+ bodies across gender and identity spectra. When curator John Szarkowski first presented Friedlander's nudes in a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 1991, he wrote that "the qualities of generosity and openness, and the habit of continual exploration--of logical extemporization enlivened by an unassuming audacity" make Friedlander's nudes so "richly and rewardingly complex." Maida, viewing the traits of openness, exploration, extemporization, and audacity as queerness itself, reimagined Friedlander's nudes by picturing different bodies in A Third Look to converse with Friedlander's. Maida calls their feminist reclamation of history "a visual queering of modernist photography, providing a visible reconciliation of where the canon of art photography has historically allowed us to see" with the broader spectrum of the human nude.
