Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is sincere efforts to bring out complete picture before my readers about Indoor Vertical Farming of saffron. Saffron is costliest spice in the world and so there is a perception that by farming Saffron in a small room of 10x10 feet size and by using aeroponic technique for climate control, a huge profit could be made. But when by compare field farming with indoor vertical farming (IVF), first of all, it requires huge capital investment to make a cold room and high running expanses for electricity, labor etc. To make profit from Indoor Vertical farming, it needs lot of hard work, planning and closely analyzing financial data at micro level is very important. Also to observe, what other people are doing who are in same business. What are the pros and cons of the IVF? A number of videos are available on social media on vertical farming of saffron. Most of such video tell that people are making huge profit in millions by doing saffron farming in a small room of 100 or 150 square feet by use of Aeroponic technique. But it is my advice to all that please do not jump to any conclusion without understanding the subject in deep. Otherwise you will end up in huge losses. I was also thinking of doing the same in past, but when I met people from the same business and they shared their experience with me. I also read material available on internet sites about IVF of saffron. By writing the book, I want to share my knowledge and experience with readers. Purpose of the book is to tell actual facts and figures of Indoor saffron farming. A profit can be made if you plan and calculate everything in advance. Follow the 3Ds- Direction, Devotion, and Determination to achieve success. Room or land for the propagation of bulbs or corms should be available with you other than cold room. This part of the propagation is ignored by most of the new starters. If you really want success in saffron farming and want to make good profit than major part of the profit will come from the propagation of corms. You need five times of your flower harvesting area for the propagation. The Book will help and guide you to make a profit from Indoor Vertical Farming of Saffron, also in setting of a new project from starting to finish along with Marketing, Quality control. See below major highlights of the book: 1. Room setup for Vertical farming- slotted angle racks, trays, light, CO2 extractor, Humidifier, Insulation of room, chiller to controlled temperature and air flow and measuring sensors etc. 2. What is Aeroponic Technique? - A.T. is farming of saffron crop without soil, water and fertilizer inside a room. Equipments and machinery require for Aeroponic farming. 3. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Medicinal and aromatic crops (MACs) are high-value crops since the natural products obtained from them are low-volume high-value commodities that have numerous applications in various sectors such as the food, beverage, food supplement, flavor and fragrance, perfumery and cosmetics, pharmaceutical and aromatherapy industries. In addition, the plant biomass is used in the production of teas and medical applications in traditional and also modern medicines. MACs are important mainly because they contain plant secondary metabolites such as essential oils, alkaloids, glygosides, saponins, tannins, vitamins and other bioactives. Plant secondary metabolites are differentiated from plant primary metabolites of photosynthesis and respiration since they are directly involved in growth and development of plants. Some MACs are used as spices and culinary herbs since they contain mainly essential oils, and are used as tonic to the digestive system, appetite modification and other systems and may facilitate nutrient uptake and utilization from various foods. A significant amount of MACs and their natural products have also demonstrated antimicrobial, antifungal and bactericidal activity and significant antioxidant capacity. In the past, MACs and their natural products have been used as a source for various medicines, in food and beverage production and in aroma products. Essentials of Medicinal and Aromatic Crops summarizes the current knowledge on medicinal and aromatic crops, including the agronomical practices of important MACs and their products, their beneficial effects and utilization of MAP and their products. The chapters provide a comprehensive guide to the most important and used medicinal and aromatic crops and their use in functional foods, nutraceuticals and as bioactives against various ailments, providing researchers, teachers, chemists, food scientists, agronomists and agroecologists in academia, industry and government a fully up to date singular source on this important topic.
