Book Synopsis Romans by : David Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Download or read book Romans written by David Martyn Lloyd-Jones and published by Banner of Truth. This book was released on 2003 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Christians have been made free by Christ (John 8:36), but not all have an equally strong grasp of what this means in practice. Some are weakened by scruples about things which are strictly neither right nor wrong, while others assert their liberty in a way which risks doing violence to the consciences of the weak. It was this situation which the Apostle Paul addressed in Romans 14. He insisted that, while Christian liberty was to be maintained, it was never to be asserted in such a way as to hurt the consciences of others, or to embolden them to do what they believed to be wrong. In this the last volume of the series, Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains the implications of this issue for the church today. The fitting conclusion of his exposition of Romans is that true Christianity is not, in the end, concerned with such matters as what may be eaten or what days should be observed, but with a divine kingdom, characterized by inward righteousness, peace and joy.

Book Synopsis Sermons, Prayers, and Pulpit Addresses by : Alexander Henderson
Download or read book Sermons, Prayers, and Pulpit Addresses written by Alexander Henderson and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2012-09-11 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This current volume is not a facsimile, but newly typeset copy of the original works of Henderson from sermons and addresses given in 1638. It is the only series of sermons and writings of Henderson currently in print for modern readers. These sermons, prayers and pulpit addresses are set in the original language of Old Scottish, but there is a table in the beginning that gives the reader meanings to the old Scottish words that may be unfamiliar. Henderson is rich in content, a master preacher, and a faithful steward of Jesus Christ’s Gospel. He is eminently practical and readable, and the sermons contained in this volume were to church members, not to doctors or theologians; that makes this volume all the more special for every Christian. In the Christian’s endeavor to walk closely with the Lord Jesus Christ Henderson is a great help. His sermons cut to the quick and are needful for equipping Christians in our day and age. He was a powerful preacher of the Gospel. "By this gospel of peace I get assurance that all my sins are done away through the blood of Jesus Christ; and this makes me willing to undergo all troubles." Alexander Henderson

Book Synopsis The Glory Now Revealed by : Andrew M. Davis
Download or read book The Glory Now Revealed written by Andrew M. Davis and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2021-10-19 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believers know that when we die we enter heaven and will spend eternity there with God and the saints who have gone before us. But what actually happens in heaven? What are we going to be doing there? Won't it get boring at some point? According to Scripture, a large part of our experience of heaven will be a continual revealing of God's glory. Not just his glory in the moment, but during all of time. The mysteries of providence, the hidden movements of God throughout history, and the forgotten and unnoted works of even the most obscure of God's people will be unveiled so that we can see how wise, loving, gracious, and powerful our God is. And though we will experience perfection in heaven, we will never be omniscient, which means we will always be learning more about God's glory, inspiring us to return joyful praise and thanksgiving. If your vision of heaven has been limited to clouds and harps and angels, it's time to expand that view with the truth found in this biblically based look at the afterlife.
