This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on Kurt Bennett's popular-ish blog God Running, Love Like Jesus begins with the story of how after a life of regular church attendance and Bible study, Bennett was challenged by a pastor to study Jesus. That led to an obsessive seven-year deep dive. After pouring over Jesus' every interaction with another human being, he realized he was doing a much better job of studying Jesus' words than he was following Jesus' words and example. The honest and fearless revelations of Bennett's own moral failures affirm he wrote this book for himself as much as for others. Love Like Jesus examines a variety of stories, examples, and research, including: -Specific examples of how Jesus communicated God's love to others. -How Jesus demonstrated all five of Gary Chapman's love languages (and how you can too). -The story of how Billy Graham extended Christ's extraordinary love and grace toward a man who misrepresented Jesus to millions. -How to respond to critics the way Jesus did. -How to love unlovable people the way Jesus did. -How to survive a life of loving like Jesus (or how not to become a Christian doormat). -How Jesus didn't love everyone the same (and why you shouldn't either). -How Jesus guarded his heart by taking care of himself--he even napped--and why you should do the same.-How Jesus loved his betrayer Judas, even to the very end. With genuine unfiltered honesty, Love Like Jesus, shows you how to live a life according to God's definition of success: A life of loving God well, and loving the people around you well too. A life of loving like Jesus.

Book excerpt: Sitting in the quiet morning, his mind flashed back to his grandson, Ethan, and his stubborn display of determination to have his way. Yes indeed, he had to admit, he was like his grandson. He was also determined and perhaps that was the reason he couldn't escape that memory. But he had so many times before relived memories of changes in his life. Why? Because he always felt great comfort in recalling the many difficult times he had been blessed. Times when he had prayed for help like the 23rd mile incidents and had found something deep inside to help him through. Though he considered himself a problem solver, he felt like he knew his limitations. Perhaps that's where he developed the attitude that he could deal with anything with the Lord's help, but there were many, many things he could not handle unless God helped. Still this was uncharacteristic and he was drawn to problem solve.

Book excerpt: What does it take to have fruitful ministry over the long haul? The stresses of pastoring are well known and can be a match for even the best-prepared, most experienced in ministry--multiple tasks, long hours, taxing responsibilities and, yes, some challenging personalities. Too often the results can be burnout, being run out or just feeling worn out. To find out how pastors can thrive as well as survive, the authors undertook a five-year in-depth research project among working pastors. Here in this ground-breaking book is the distilled wisdom of dozens of pastors who have been on the front lines of ministry. We hear from them what works, what doesn't and what distinctive issues people in ministry face. The authors uncover five key themes that promote healthy, sustainable ministry that lasts--spiritual formation, self-care, emotional and cultural intelligence, marriage and family, leadership and management. These themes are unpacked from the vantage point of ministry on the ground. Questions for personal evaluation and reflection are included throughout the book to bring home the significance of each section. This is the perfect companion for a peer cohort of pastors to read together. It can also be of value to church boards and others who want to better understand how to help sustain their pastors in ministry. In short, this is a book pastors can't live without.

Few, if any, address for a contemporary audience the biblical foundations of the government of the church. But this should be a priority for us, because God emphasizes the government of his church throughout Scripture. Why should we be church members? How do church officers reflect Jesus' reign over us? Where do the church's responsibilities begin and end? Where do ours? These, and other important questions, are answered in Guy Prentiss Water's vital examination of How Jesus Runs the Church. At a time when church authority is treated with contempt, it's important that we honor God in our churches more than ever.

Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The “paradigm-influencing” book (Christianity Today) that is fundamentally transforming our understanding of white evangelicalism in America. Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping, revisionist history of the last seventy-five years of white evangelicalism, revealing how evangelicals have worked to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism—or in the words of one modern chaplain, with “a spiritual badass.” As acclaimed scholar Kristin Du Mez explains, the key to understanding this transformation is to recognize the centrality of popular culture in contemporary American evangelicalism. Many of today’s evangelicals might not be theologically astute, but they know their VeggieTales, they’ve read John Eldredge’s Wild at Heart, and they learned about purity before they learned about sex—and they have a silver ring to prove it. Evangelical books, films, music, clothing, and merchandise shape the beliefs of millions. And evangelical culture is teeming with muscular heroes—mythical warriors and rugged soldiers, men like Oliver North, Ronald Reagan, Mel Gibson, and the Duck Dynasty clan, who assert white masculine power in defense of “Christian America.” Chief among these evangelical legends is John Wayne, an icon of a lost time when men were uncowed by political correctness, unafraid to tell it like it was, and did what needed to be done. Challenging the commonly held assumption that the “moral majority” backed Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020 for purely pragmatic reasons, Du Mez reveals that Trump in fact represented the fulfillment, rather than the betrayal, of white evangelicals’ most deeply held values: patriarchy, authoritarian rule, aggressive foreign policy, fear of Islam, ambivalence toward #MeToo, and opposition to Black Lives Matter and the LGBTQ community. A much-needed reexamination of perhaps the most influential subculture in this country, Jesus and John Wayne shows that, far from adhering to biblical principles, modern white evangelicals have remade their faith, with enduring consequences for all Americans.

This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What I am writing about I wrote this book to share on the life of my father, Pastor Zam, initially. But as I started writing, I realized that the Holy Spirit was gently guiding me to share some of the ways he lived a victorious Christian life, according to the word of God. Growing up in church all my life, I have witnessed many believers getting converted, but are never transformed and changed to reflect the victorious life of their savior, Jesus Christ. I believe there are a lot of reasons for this, the wrong teaching and dispensation of the Word of God, the believers' lack of knowledge in the word of God and who it says that He is, and what it says they already possess. I have seen many believers being dispossessed by the enemy by deception and manipulation. The enemy manipulated the word of God in the Garden of Eden to deceive Eve. And man has been used by him to manipulate the word of God since then. When believers are unsure of their identity in Christ and choose to entertain the voice of the enemy they become easily deceived and are dispossessed of their dominion authority and spiritual connection from that point onward. When we do not know that we can experience the manifest presence of God every day and benefit from the comfort and conversation of the Holy Spirit daily, then the enemy has already robbed and dispossessed us of our covenant blessing in Christ. In Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to Him that believeth." We need to go back to that faith and belief in the word like Jesus spoke about here. I wrote this book to unbelievers to give them an insight on what they can have access to in Christ. The peace, the contentment, fulfillment, power, deliverance, healing, and wisdom is available to them if they accept Christ as savior and Lord of their life. I wrote this book to challenge the elect, to know the message, be the witness of that message, walk in the light, and to continuously stay in that place where truth and the Spirit of Truth will prevail in your life. Why is this book unique and why does it fill a market need? Many people in this world, even church-going Bible-toting Christians live in a state of defeat and lack in their life. Lack in finances, lack in wisdom, lack of time, lack of faith, lack of proper guidance, etc. Yet God promised us the abundant life if we only believe. John 10:10 tell us that, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." If you have loss or lack, then it is safe to say a thief has entered and stolen from you, wouldn't you agree? This is the reason I wrote this book, so the eyes of your understanding be opened to the lies and cunning devises of the enemy. This book will help you to identify the areas that the enemy has stolen from you today. Areas like your health, finances, peace, etc. It will show you how to take them back by faith in God. Hosea 4:6 says that "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

Book excerpt: Are you cursed with two left feet? Are your dance moves unrighteous? Do you refrain from getting down lest others judge you cruelly? Fear not. Salvation is at hand. Singing hymns of praise is standard practice-now it's time to set your feet a-tapping with a collection of original dance moves inspired by Jesus and the likes of Moses and John the Baptist. Dances include: the Water Walk, the Temptation Tango, the Judas Hustle, and The Apostolic Conga. Each dance move is outlined with: how to, inspiration, and an illustration. Slyly irreverent but ultimately festive, Dancing with Jesus is illustrated in full color. Best of all, two of the dances are animated for full effect by a lenticular cover and last-spread finale, making this a truly one-of-a-kind novelty item! As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes, there is, "A time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, a time to dance."
