This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robust Technology with Analysis of Interference in Signal Processing discusses for the first time the theoretical fundamentals and algorithms of analysis of noise as an information carrier. On their basis the robust technology of noisy signals processing is developed. This technology can be applied to solving the problems of control, identification, diagnostics, and pattern recognition in petrochemistry, energetics, geophysics, medicine, physics, aviation, and other sciences and industries. The text explores the emergent possibility of forecasting failures on various objects, in conjunction with the fact that failures follow the hidden microchanges revealed via interference estimates. This monograph is of interest to students, postgraduates, engineers, scientific associates and others who are concerned with the processing of measuring information on computers.
Book Synopsis Communications and Networks by : Ian F. Blake
Download or read book Communications and Networks written by Ian F. Blake and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The areas of communications, computer networks, and signal processing have undergone rapid development over the past several years. The advent of VLSI circuitry and increasingly sophisticated computer hardware and software techniques have made possible the construction of systems and signal proces sors for· communications applications not contemplated only a short time ago. The increasing complexity of communication systems, both by themselves and in land-based or satellite networks, has created a greater need for finding use ful mathematical techniques for their analysis. The rapidly evolving technolo gies involved continue to find exciting new areas for application, and it remains a challenge for researchers to keep abreast of developments. In this volume researchers from a broad cross section of the areas of communications, signal processing, and computer networks have been invited to contribute articles to assist readers in learning about the current state of research and future research directions in their area. The authors were not given tight guidelines for their contributions and thus the character and emphasis of each chapter differs. Although the scope of the areas considered is necessarily limited in a volume of this size, the coverage here is quite broad and it is hoped that the reader will find the contents of this volume to be interesting, useful, and informative.
Book Synopsis Statistical Signal Processing of Complex-Valued Data by : Peter J. Schreier
Download or read book Statistical Signal Processing of Complex-Valued Data written by Peter J. Schreier and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-02-04 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex-valued random signals are embedded in the very fabric of science and engineering, yet the usual assumptions made about their statistical behavior are often a poor representation of the underlying physics. This book deals with improper and noncircular complex signals, which do not conform to classical assumptions, and it demonstrates how correct treatment of these signals can have significant payoffs. The book begins with detailed coverage of the fundamental theory and presents a variety of tools and algorithms for dealing with improper and noncircular signals. It provides a comprehensive account of the main applications, covering detection, estimation, and signal analysis of stationary, nonstationary, and cyclostationary processes. Providing a systematic development from the origin of complex signals to their probabilistic description makes the theory accessible to newcomers. This book is ideal for graduate students and researchers working with complex data in a range of research areas from communications to oceanography.

This book was released on 2007-10-25 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimization of adaptive signal processing algorithms for wireless communications is based on a model of the underlying propagation channel. In this book, a systematic treatment of this practical design problem is provided.
Book Synopsis Robustness in Data Analysis by : Georgij Leonidovič Ševljakov
Download or read book Robustness in Data Analysis written by Georgij Leonidovič Ševljakov and published by VSP. This book was released on 2002 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of mathematical statistics called robustness statistics deals with the stability of statistical inference under variations of accepted distribution models. Although robust statistics involves mathematically highly defined tools, robust methods exhibit a satisfactory behaviour in small samples, thus being quite useful in applications. This volume in the book series Modern Probability and Statistics addresses various topics in the field of robust statistics and data analysis, such as: a probability-free approach in data analysis; minimax variance estimators of location, scale, regression, autoregression and correlation; "L1-norm methods; adaptive, data reduction, bivariate boxplot, and multivariate outlier detection algorithms; applications in reliability, detection of signals, and analysis of the sudden cardiac death risk factors. The book contains new results related to robustness and data analysis technologies, including both theoretical aspects and practical needs of data processing, which have been relatively inaccessible as they were originally only published in Russian. This book will be of value and interest to researchers in mathematical statistics as well as to those using statistical methods.

Book Synopsis Signal Processing for Neuroscientists by : Wim van Drongelen
Download or read book Signal Processing for Neuroscientists written by Wim van Drongelen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-12-18 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Signal Processing for Neuroscientists introduces analysis techniques primarily aimed at neuroscientists and biomedical engineering students with a reasonable but modest background in mathematics, physics, and computer programming. The focus of this text is on what can be considered the ‘golden trio’ in the signal processing field: averaging, Fourier analysis, and filtering. Techniques such as convolution, correlation, coherence, and wavelet analysis are considered in the context of time and frequency domain analysis. The whole spectrum of signal analysis is covered, ranging from data acquisition to data processing; and from the mathematical background of the analysis to the practical application of processing algorithms. Overall, the approach to the mathematics is informal with a focus on basic understanding of the methods and their interrelationships rather than detailed proofs or derivations. One of the principle goals is to provide the reader with the background required to understand the principles of commercially available analyses software, and to allow him/her to construct his/her own analysis tools in an environment such as MATLAB®. Multiple color illustrations are integrated in the text Includes an introduction to biomedical signals, noise characteristics, and recording techniques Basics and background for more advanced topics can be found in extensive notes and appendices A Companion Website hosts the MATLAB scripts and several data files: http://www.elsevierdirect.com/companion.jsp?ISBN=9780123708670

Book Synopsis Robust and Distributed Hypothesis Testing by : Gökhan Gül
Download or read book Robust and Distributed Hypothesis Testing written by Gökhan Gül and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-08 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book generalizes and extends the available theory in robust and decentralized hypothesis testing. In particular, it presents a robust test for modeling errors which is independent from the assumptions that a sufficiently large number of samples is available, and that the distance is the KL-divergence. Here, the distance can be chosen from a much general model, which includes the KL-divergence as a very special case. This is then extended by various means. A minimax robust test that is robust against both outliers as well as modeling errors is presented. Minimax robustness properties of the given tests are also explicitly proven for fixed sample size and sequential probability ratio tests. The theory of robust detection is extended to robust estimation and the theory of robust distributed detection is extended to classes of distributions, which are not necessarily stochastically bounded. It is shown that the quantization functions for the decision rules can also be chosen as non-monotone. Finally, the book describes the derivation of theoretical bounds in minimax decentralized hypothesis testing, which have not yet been known. As a timely report on the state-of-the-art in robust hypothesis testing, this book is mainly intended for postgraduates and researchers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering, statistics and applied probability. Moreover, it may be of interest for students and researchers working in the field of classification, pattern recognition and cognitive radio.
