Numerosi edifici costruiti a partire dal secondo dopoguerra sono dotati di impianti di riscaldamento obsoleti, con livelli di efficienza non compatibili con le attuali esigenze di risparmio energetico e di sostenibilità ambientale. Nell’auspicabile processo di riqualificazione energetica dei sistemi edificio-impianto, gli interventi che riguardano i componenti impiantistici, che possono essere attuati anche indipendentemente da quelli sull’involucro, costituiscono un’occasione per fornire un significativo contributo al risparmio energetico. Inoltre, la ristrutturazione impiantistica è, di solito, caratterizzata da brevi tempi di realizzazione e da costi relativamente contenuti. Con lo scopo di elaborare delle linee guida per la scelta degli interventi di riqualificazione energetica, sono state selezionate alcune tipologie edilizie residenziali tipiche dell’Italia del dopoguerra, abbinate alle combinazioni impiantistiche più diffuse. Sono stati considerati edifici che si diversificano per tipologia costruttiva e per caratteristiche dell’involucro edilizio. Con una serie di simulazioni, si è valutata la diminuzione del fabbisogno di energia primaria che può essere raggiunta ipotizzando di sostituire uno o più componenti dell’impianto con altri più efficienti. Le simulazioni sono state effettuate per località del nord, centro e sud Italia, per tenere in dovuta considerazione anche gli effetti correlati con la variazione dei parametri climatici. I risultati ottenuti, di facile consultazione grazie alla rappresentazione mediante grafici, costituiscono un utile strumento per il professionista, in quanto permettono una rapida ed efficace valutazione preliminare dei benefici conseguibili con un intervento di ristrutturazione impiantistica.

I metodi di simulazione dinamica costituiscono un approccio efficace, in quanto permettono di modellare accuratamente il comportamento energetico e le interazioni del sistema edificio-impianto. La guida offre una panoramica degli aspetti relativi alla definizione di modelli di simulazione delle prestazioni energetiche mediante gli strumenti di calcolo disponibili. Sono indicati, alla luce delle normative del settore, i principi della calibrazione delle simulazioni sulla base di parametri ricavati da monitoraggi in situ. Vengono forniti una serie di riferimenti normativi utili per l’ottimizzazione della fase di raccolta dati e per la definizione dei parametri in ingresso dei modelli. Il testo contiene, inoltre, una panoramica sugli aspetti principali del calcolo in regime dinamico e semistazionario. Nella seconda parte, più operativa, sono riportati i risultati di un’analisi del comportamento energetico di un edificio esistente e, in appendice, le nozioni di base per l’utilizzo di un software di simulazione in regime transitorio.

In this book, Paulo Ferrão and John Fernández offer a metabolic perspective on urban sustainability, viewing the city as a metabolism, in terms of its exchanges of matter and energy. Their book provides a roadmap to the strategies and tools needed for a scientifically based framework for analyzing and promoting the sustainability of urban systems. Using the concept of urban metabolism as a unifying framework, Ferrão and Fernandez describe a systems-oriented approach that establishes useful linkages among environmental, economic, social, and technical infrastructure issues. These linkages lead to an integrated information-intensive platform that enables ecologically informed urban planning.
