Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a new perspective on and a new approach to a wide spectrum of situations, related to data analysis, actually, a kind of a new paradigm. Namely, for a given data set and its partition, whose origins may be of any kind, the authors try to reconstruct this partition on the basis of the data set given, using very broadly conceived clustering procedure. The main advantages of this new paradigm concern the substantive aspects of the particular cases considered, mainly in view of the variety of interpretations, which can be assumed in the framework of the paradigm. Due to the novel problem formulation and the flexibility in the interpretations of this problem and its components, the domains, which are encompassed (or at least affected) by the potential use of the paradigm, include cluster analysis, classification, outlier detection, feature selection, and even factor analysis as well as geometry of the data set. The book is useful for all those who look for new, nonconventional approaches to their data analysis problems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to Prof. Sadaaki Miyamoto and presents cutting-edge papers in some of the areas in which he contributed. Bringing together contributions by leading researchers in the field, it concretely addresses clustering, multisets, rough sets and fuzzy sets, as well as their applications in areas such as decision-making. The book is divided in four parts, the first of which focuses on clustering and classification. The second part puts the spotlight on multisets, bags, fuzzy bags and other fuzzy extensions, while the third deals with rough sets. Rounding out the coverage, the last part explores fuzzy sets and decision-making.

Atanassov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-18 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is composed of selected papers from the Sixteenth National Conference on Operational and Systems Research, BOS-2020, held on December 14-15, 2020, one of premiere conferences in the field of operational and systems research. The second is the Nineteenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Generalized Nets, IWIFSGN 2020, held on December 10-11, 2020, in Warsaw, Poland, in turn—one of premiere conferences on fuzzy logic, notably on extensions of the traditional fuzzy sets, also comprising a considerable part on the generalized nets (GNs), an important extension of the traditional Petri nets. A joint publication of selected papers from the two conferences follows a long tradition of such a joint organization and—from a substantial point of view—combines systems modeling, systems analysis, broadly perceived operational research, notably optimization, decision making, and decision support, with various aspects of uncertain and imprecise information and their related tools and techniques.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents ample, richly illustrated account on results and experience from a project, dealing with the analysis of data concerning behavior patterns on the Web. The advertising on the Web is dealt with, and the ultimate issue is to assess the share of the artificial, automated activity (ads fraud), as opposed to the genuine human activity. After a comprehensive introductory part, a full-fledged report is provided from a wide range of analytic and design efforts, oriented at: the representation of the Web behavior patterns, formation and selection of telling variables, structuring of the populations of behavior patterns, including the use of clustering, classification of these patterns, and devising most effective and efficient techniques to separate the artificial from the genuine traffic. A series of important and useful conclusions is drawn, concerning both the nature of the observed phenomenon, and hence the characteristics of the respective datasets, and the appropriateness of the methodological approaches tried out and devised. Some of these observations and conclusions, both related to data and to methods employed, provide a new insight and are sometimes surprising. The book provides also a rich bibliography on the main problem approached and on the various methodologies tried out.

This IBM Redbooks® publication is the result of a project dedicated to the current DB2 Version 9 Utilities Suite product. It provides information about introducing the functions that help set up and invoke the utilities in operational scenarios, shows how to optimize concurrent execution of utilities and collect information for triggering utilities execution, and provides considerations about partitioning. It also describes the new functions provided by several utilities for SHARE LEVEL CHANGE execution, which maximize availability and the exploitation of DFSMS constructs by the BACKUP and RESTORE SYSTEM utilities. This book concentrates on the enhancements provided by DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8 and DB2 for z/OS Version 9. It implicitly assumes a basic level of familiarity with the utilities provided by DB2 for z/OS and OS/390® Version 7.

Book excerpt: Synthesis Techniques and Optimization for Reconfigurable Systems discusses methods used to model reconfigurable applications at the system level, many of which could be incorporated directly into modern compilers. The book also discusses a framework for reconfigurable system synthesis, which bridges the gap between application-level compiler analysis and high-level device synthesis. The development of this framework (discussed in Chapter 5), and the creation of application analysis which further optimize its output (discussed in Chapters 7, 8, and 9), represent over four years of rigorous investigation within UCLA's Embedded and Reconfigurable Laboratory (ERLab) and UCSB's Extensible, Programmable and Reconfigirable Embedded SystemS (ExPRESS) Group. The research of these systems has not yet matured, and we continually strive to develop data and methods, which will extend the collective understanding of reconfigurable system synthesis.

Book excerpt: It was an honor and a pleasure to organizethe 13th International Conference on Computer Analysis of Images and Patterns (CAIP 2009) in Mu ̈nster, Germany. CAIP has been held biennially since 1985: Berlin (1985), Wismar (1987), Leipzig (1989), Dresden (1991), Budapest (1993), Prague (1995), Kiel (1997), Ljubljana (1999), Warsaw (2001), Groningen (2003), Paris (2005), and Vienna (2007). Initially, this conference series served as a forum for getting together s- entistsfromEastandWestEurope.Nowadays,CAIPenjoysahighinternational visibility and attracts participants from all over the world. For CAIP 2009 we received a record number of 405 submissions. All papers were reviewed by two, and in most cases, three reviewers. Finally, 148 papers were selected for presentation at the conference, resulting in an acceptance rate of 36%. All Program Committee members and additional reviewers listed here deserve a great thanks for their timely and competent reviews. The accepted papers were presented either as oral presentations or posters in a single-track program. In addition, wewereveryhappyto haveAljoscha Smolicand David G. Storkasourinvitedspeakerstopresenttheirworkintwofascinatingareas. With this scienti?c program we hope to continue the tradition of CAIP in providing a forum for scienti?c exchange at a high quality level. A successful conference like CAIP 2009 would not be possible without the support of many institutions and people. First of all, we like to thank all the authors of submitted papers and the invited speakers for their contributions. The Steering Committee members were always there when advice was needed.

Book excerpt: This book states that information networks of today are going through a rapid evolution. Different kinds of networks with different characteristics are emerging and they are integrating in heterogeneous networks. For these reasons, there are many interconnection problems which may occur at different levels of the hardware and software design of communicating entities and communication networks. These kinds of networks need to manage an increasing usage demand, provide support for a significant number of services, guarantee their QoS, and optimize the network resources. The success of all-IP networking and wireless technology has changed the ways of living the people around the world. The progress of electronic integration and wireless communications is going to pave the way to offer people the access to the wireless networks on the fly, based on which all electronic devices will be able to exchange the information with each other in ubiquitous way whenever necessary. The aim of the book is to provide latest research findings, innovative research results, methods, and development techniques from both theoretical and practical perspectives related to the emerging areas of broad-band and wireless computing.
