Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you are in retail, then this book is a MUST! Uniquely designed to help transform you into a Master Retail Sales & Service Professional by helping you discover the secrets that drive the world’s top retail sales professionals, it will help you or your team create the habits and lasting changes by enabling you replace current unacceptable patterns that are costing your company sales with new ones, enabling you achieve your sales goals faster and more consistently. Unlike the traditional hard sell approach where you are constantly ‘pushing’ the customer to close right from the start- thus making the customer feel uncomfortable, manipulated or threatened, with the G.R.E.A.T. Sales Model, the salesperson takes time up front to build a sincere, committed relationship by investing time in learning about the customer’s needs. This helps build trust between the two. Then, every step of the sales process that follows is conducted with the relationship in mind, ensuring an enduring and lasting relationship, leading to repeat business and referrals. The G.R.E.A.T. Sales Model helps you in many ways: It first of all instills in you that only great service stands out. It gives you a structured approach to handling your customers which is an acronym for our 5 step powerful sales model- the key to successful retail selling: G-Greet customers R-Revealing questions-Understanding needs E-Explain, enlighten, engage, enthuse, excite, customers about your product A-Answer customer’s concerns and objections T-Techniques to help customers ‘buy’…as people, hate being sold! (Selling to the opposite sex, Generating additional sales, Suggesting complementary/ Add-on products- Up-selling/ Cross-selling) With this powerful model, most of your time is ‘invested’ in uncovering the customer’s needs and proving value of your product, before you actually recommend it, thus eliminating many objections. The G.R.E.A.T. Retail Sales & Service Workbook will provide you a step by step approach into professionalism where you will gain a full understanding of the psychology of both the buying and selling processes, working through these 5 steps, practicing and mastering the skills at each stage, so that they are developed and reinforced, thus enabling you ‘win, provide a positive experience and keep customers for life’!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take Care of Your Customers--or Someone Else Will! Legendary Service Great customer service is a concept organizations love to be known for. Yet most people consider the service they receive to be average, at best. Successful companies make the connection between legendary customer service and a thriving business--they recognize that the way employees treat customers is directly related to the way managers treat employees. Kelsey Young is an optimistic but disillusioned sales associate working her way through college. Her world opens up when one of her professors challenges her to create a culture of service at her workplace by putting the five components of Legendary Service into practice. Although Ferguson's, the store where Kelsey works, certainly isn't known for service excellence, Kelsey believes she can make a positive difference. She quickly learns that culture change isn't easy--and that her role as a frontline employee is more significant than she ever could have imagined. In characteristic Blanchard style, Legendary Service: The Key Is to Care is a quick and entertaining read for people at all organizational levels in every industry. When applied, its lessons will have a profound impact on the service experience your customers will receive. Whether a CEO or a part-time employee, every person can make a difference--and customer service is everyone's job. PRAISE FOR LEGENDARY SERVICE: "Read this book and establish a service culture in your organization." -- Horst Schulze, Chairman/CEO, Capella Hotel Group "Legendary Service has great learnings for people at all organizational levels: for executives and managers, the value of a service culture; and for frontline staff, the reality that they are the face of the company and can make a difference. Legendary service--it's everyone, always." -- Mark King, CEO and President, TaylorMade Golf "Everything I know about service I learned from my career at Hilton Hotels, Marriott International, The Walt Disney Company, and Ken Blanchard. The One Minute Manager dramatically changed my thinking 32 years ago. Legendary Service will teach the next generation how to deliver sensational service. Buy it, study it, implement it." -- Lee Cockerell, Executive Vice President, Walt Disney World (Retired & Inspired), and author of Creating Magic and The Customer Rules "Kathy Cuff and Vicki Halsey have created a fantastic customer service model called ICARE. When you add their voices to that of the master storyteller Ken Blanchard, you have a masterpiece entitled Legendary Service. It is a must-read for everyone who, like me, has a passion for service." -- Colleen Barrett, President Emeritus, Southwest Airlines, and coauthor of Lead with LUV "Ken Blanchard has done it again and delivered the right book at the right time. Legendary Service provides the essentials of hospitality and servant leadership in a way that everyone can adopt--right now--today!" -- John Caparella, President and COO, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and Sands Expo "Ken, Kathy, and Vicki show us how to change everyday service events into memorable experiences. Their book is a must-read for anyone unwilling to accept mediocrity." -- Leonardo Inghilleri, coauthor of Exceptional Service, Exceptional Profit

Book excerpt: Training in the retail sector throughout the 12 European Community (EC) member countries was examined through in-depth case studies of 55 retail firms that were selected as representing a wide range of firm types (19 multinational, 36 national, 4 cooperative, 7 family-owned firms), forms of retailing (department stores, supermarkets, and chain and independent specialized stores), firm sizes (ranging from firms employing fewer than 100 to more than 10,000 people), and subsectors (food, nonfood, both). It was discovered that priority is still being given to training newly recruited employees, especially potential managers. A new emphasis on training as part of a global commercial strategy and concomitant new emphasis on training the whole staff were evident. Most curricula were found to be based on a modular principle. An increase in the number of training activities in retail firms and a shift toward more strategic use of training as part of firms' human resource policies were discovered. Few data on training costs and efficiency were available, and the need for more systematic collection of factual data on training in the retail sector was evident. (Appended are seven tables of statistical data and the names/addresses of the study advisory committee members.) (MN)
