Book Synopsis Research in Mechanical Properties of Sintered Aluminum Powders by : Richard Murphy
Download or read book Research in Mechanical Properties of Sintered Aluminum Powders written by Richard Murphy and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dispersion strengthening studies in metal-metal oxide alloy systems, involving the metals aluminum, copper, and nickel have shown that the primary variables controlling strength and stability at high temperatures are oxide particle size, stability of the oxide, (freedom from transformations, refractoriness, non-reactivity with the metal matrix), interparticle spacing, and storage of energy via the consolidation process (extrusion, for example). Current studies are concerned first, with methods of achieving the desired particle size and spacing and secondly, with studies of the stability of metal-metal oxide alloys at temperatures approaching the melting point of the matrix metal. The refractoriness of the oxide is shown to be of maximum importance.

Download or read book Brazing SAP-2 Sintered Aluminum Powder written by and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials made from sintered aluminum powder (SAP) present much interest for various branches of engineering in view of properties which distinguish it from ordinary, high-strength aluminum alloys.: The properties and technology of producing this material been adequately discussed in foreign and native literature. The mechanical properties of SAP -2 are compared in the table with aluminum alloys. To the problem of producing permanent joints from sintered aluminum powder by welding and brazing, very little work has been devoted. In this work special attention is given to obtaining braze joints of SAP and also to the study of their heat resistance.

Book Synopsis Sintering of Aluminum Alloys by : Padmavathi Chandran
Download or read book Sintering of Aluminum Alloys written by Padmavathi Chandran and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the powder metallurgical research on particulate aluminum alloys has been focused on optimizing composition. However, the role of process parameters on sinterability of prealloyed powders still remains to be critically evaluated. First part of the study logically evaluates the effect of sintering atmosphere (nitrogen, argon and vacuum) and temperature on sintered density, electrical, electrochemical and mechanical properties of Al-Cu-Mg, Al-Mg-Si and Al-Zn-Mg alloys. The effect of heat treatment (T4, T6 and T8 tempers) on microstructure and properties was also investigated. In an attempt to make the process less energy intensive and control the grain growth at higher temperature, in second part of the study, higher heating rates were implemented using multimode microwave (2.45 GHz and 6kW) furnace. Microstructural changes and properties were compared between microwave and conventional heated compacts. This book should help to shed some knowledge on new processing technologies, interaction of microwave with conductive materials and especially useful to researchers, professionals and students working in the field of aluminum powder metallurgy and microwave processing.

Book Synopsis Effect of Prolonged Heating on the Mechanical Properties of Sintered Aluminum Powder by : M. G. Stepanova
Download or read book Effect of Prolonged Heating on the Mechanical Properties of Sintered Aluminum Powder written by M. G. Stepanova and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanical properties of sintered aluminum powder SAP-1 sheets produced by rolled lamination and of SAP-1 and SAP-3 rods that are pressed are studied in connection with the effect of prolonged heating; heating at 250 degrees C for 1000 and 5000 hours results in no influence on properties in short-term elongation. Sensitivity to cracking in impact bending is slightly reduced. Heating of SAP-1 sheets to a temperature above 450 degrees decreases ultimate strength at 20 degrees and increases relative elongation. At 250-500 degrees the strength characteristics undergo no change. Prolonged heating (100-5000 hours) at 250-500 degrees C has no effect on any grades of pressed SAP semifinished products.

Book Synopsis Metal Matrix Composites by : Minoru Taya
Download or read book Metal Matrix Composites written by Minoru Taya and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-11 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal Matrix Composites: Thermomechanical Behavior discusses metal matrix composites, elaborating on that consists of two phases—fiber as reinforcement and metal as matrix. This book focuses on polymer matrix composites, including topics in metal matrix composites ranging from processing to fracture mechanics. The three basic types of composite materials—dispersion-strengthened, particle-reinforced, and fiber (whisker)-reinforced, are also described in detail. Dispersion-strengthened is characterized by a microstructure consisting of an elemental matrix within which fine particles are uniformly dispersed, while particle-reinforced is indicated by dispersed particles of greater than 1.0 μm diameter with a volume fraction of 5 to 40%. Fiber (whisker)-reinforced provides a distinguishing microstructural feature of fiber-reinforced materials, such as that the reinforcing fiber has one long dimension, while the reinforcing particles of the other two types do not. This publication serves as a reference data book to students and researchers aiming to acquire knowledge of the thermomechanical behavior of metal matrix composites.
