Then, from biological or clinical experience concerning the relative effectiveness of different radiations in producing deleterious effects, the biological hazard may be inferred. Some applications of accelerators are particle therapy for oncological purposes, radioisotope production for medical diagnostics, and ion implanters for the manufacturing of semiconductors.
