Book excerpt: Excerpt from Report of Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Public Library and Reading Rooms: For the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 1910 Sir - In accordance with the requirement of the Charter, the Board of Trustees of the Public Library and Reading Rooms presents its report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1 10. 9with volumes on hand at the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 1910, the Library records show an increase of volumes during the year, which is a greater number of vol umes added to the Library than in any year since the fire. The increase is more than justified by the large number of books circulated, being from the Main Library Build ing, the Branches and the Deposit Stations. This shows on an average that each book in the Library has been placed in the hands of seven (7) different people during the year. The increase in circulation over the preceding year is indi cating that the books in the Library are such as are desired by the reading public. The number of cards in force, is nearly as large as the number we had before the fire of 1906, when the Library carried volumes on its shelves.
