Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A special story marking a moment in history…lest we forget. On the one hundredth anniversary of Armistice Day, Jesse Hall, United States Marine and unsung hero, finds herself among a group of time-traveling vampires. She has been directed there by a century-old letter from her great-grandfather, instructing her to introduce herself with the phrase: “I’m not wearing a red shirt.” So begins a dash through time to save a man in the very last minutes of the Great War, which in turn will save eight million other lives… This novelette is part of the Kiss Across Time paranormal time travel series: 1.0: Kiss Across Time 2.0: Kiss Across Swords 2.5: Time Kissed Moments* 3.0: Kiss Across Chains 3.5: Kiss Across Time Box One 4.0: Kiss Across Deserts 5.0: Kiss Across Kingdoms 5.1: Time And Tyra Again* 6.0: Kiss Across Seas 6.5: Kiss Across Time Box Two 7.0: Kiss Across Worlds 7.1: Time And Remembrance* 8.0: Kiss Across Tomorrow 8.1: More Time Kissed Moments* 9.0: Kiss Across Blades 10.0: Kiss Across Chaos 11.0: Kiss Across the Universe 11.1: Even More Time Kissed Moments* 12.0: Kiss Across Forever The characters and events in this series are interconnected from book to book. Reading the books in order is strongly encouraged. [*Short stories and novellas featuring the characters and situations in the Kiss Across Time series]. A Time Travel Vampire Romance Novelette ___ Praise for Time and Remembrance: The detail makes you wonder if Ms. Cooper-Posey isn’t actually a time traveler. A lovely little book in a great series. Though this is a novella, Cooper-Posey still packs in a whale of a story. You can't go wrong with Cooper-Posey - she is an amazing storyteller who develops her characters carefully and yet lovingly. Every story she tells is an engrossing one - and she makes you wish time-travel was indeed a real thing. If you love time travel and haven’t read this series you should start today. Tracy makes you believe in time travel (and vampires) and brings the past to life like no other. As always Tracy astounds me with how she makes the history in her story come to life. My students often muse how much easier it would be to learn about history if they could just go back to that time period for a little while. Cooper-Posey does just that with this installment of this series. It's a beautifully written novella. This book brought me to tears. The true measure of a well written story are the emotions an author is able to wring from a reader. Loaded with familiar characters, a powerful plot pulls you into this story set at the end of World War I and just won't let you go. It's a short read made all the more moving for its brevity. I loved it. Wow, just wow. I cried, I laughed and fell in love all over again with these characters. This book made me cry when I read it - not something I normally do with this series. It was so heartfelt, I couldn't help it.

This much-needed, easy-to-use roadmap shares 85 imaginative ways to celebrate and honor family and friends we never want to forget. Discover ways to reimagine photographs, jewelry, clothing, letters, recipes, and virtually any inherited item or memento. Use Technology: Strategies for your daily, digital life. Opportunities for using computers, scanners, printers, apps, mobile devices, and websites. Not Just Holidays: Tips for remembrance any time of year, day or night, whenever you feel that pull, be it a loved one’s birthday, an anniversary, or just a moment when a memory catches you by surprise. With beautiful illustrations throughout by artist Jennifer Orkin Lewis,Passed and Present also includes an introduction by Hope Edelman, bestselling author of Motherless Daughters.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time capsules offer unexpected insights into how people view their own time, place, and culture, as well as their duties to future generations. Remembrance of Things Present traces the birth of this device to the Gilded Age, when growing urban volatility prompted doubts about how the period would be remembered—or if it would be remembered at all. Yablon details how diverse Americans – from presidents and mayors to advocates for the rights of women, blacks, and workers – constructed prospective memories of their present. They did so by contributing not just written testimony to time capsules but also sources that historians and archivists considered illegitimate, such as photographs, phonograph records, films, and everyday artifacts. By offering a direct line to posterity, time capsules stimulated various hopes for the future. Remembrance of Things Present delves into these treasure chests to unearth those forgotten futures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An accessible, irreverent guide to one of the most admired—and entertaining—novels of the past century: Rememberance of Things Past. There is no other guide like this; a user-friendly and enticing entry into the marvelously enjoyable world of Proust. At seven volumes, three thousand pages, and more than four hundred characters, as well as a towering reputation as a literary classic, Proust’s novel can seem daunting. But though begun a century ago, in 1909, it is in fact as engaging and relevant to our times as ever. Patrick Alexander is passionate about Proust’s genius and appeal—he calls the work “outrageously bawdy and extremely funny”—and in his guide he makes it more accessible to the general reader through detailed plot summaries, historical and cultural background, a guide to the fifty most important characters, maps, family trees, illustrations, and a brief biography of Proust. Essential for readers and book groups currently reading Proust and who want help keeping track of the huge cast and intricate plot, this Reader’s Guide is also a wonderful introduction for students and new readers and a memory-refresher for long-time fans.

Book excerpt: "I was tired of the violence it takes to become a man." In Remembrance Day, Jonathan Savage recounts his memories of growing up under the shadow of wars fought and carried home by his father and grandfather. He struggles against a history long past that punish generations of a family. While his brother finds refuge in the bottle, Jonathan fights a solitary battle against guilt, blame, and betrayal. He shares his memories with his infant son while sitting quietly by a lake. "We tell stories because the soul depends on them," he says. The story is a journey through scattered memories, of misplaced trust and blossoming love. It is about a childhood home. A ravine and a cemetery. And a war whose echoes reverberate still.

Book excerpt: From the French intellectual, novelist, essayist, critic, and one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century: the second two sections of his monumental achievement--The Guermantes Way and Cities of the Plain. Marcel Proust's masterpiece is one of the towering literary works of the twentieth century. Relating its narrator's experiences in Belle Epoque France as he grows up, falls in love, and lives through the First World War, it has mesmerized generations of readers with its profound reflections on art, time, and memory. C. K. Scott Moncrieff's original English translation was heralded as an artistic achievement in its own right; the later revisions to it by Terence Kilmartin were based on the definitive French Pleiade edition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is memory today? How can it be approached? Why does the contemporary world seem to be more and more haunted by different types of memories still asking for elaboration? Which artistic experiences have explored and defined memory in meaningful ways? How do technologies and the media have changed it? These are just some of the questions developed in this collection of essays analysing memory and memory shapes, which explores the different ways in which past time and its elaboration have been, and still are, elaborated, discussed, written or filmed, and contested, but also shared. By gathering together scholars from different fields of investigation, this book explores the cultural, social and artistic tensions in representing the past and the present, in understanding our legacies, and in approaching historical time and experience. Through the analysis of different representations of memory, and the investigation of literature, anthropology, myth and storytelling, a space of theories and discourses about the symbolic and cultural spaces of memory representation is developed.

Book excerpt: The early modern period inherited a deeply-ingrained culture of Christian remembrance that proved a platform for creativity in a remarkable variety of forms. From the literature of church ritual to the construction of monuments; from portraiture to the arrangement of domestic interiors; from the development of textual rites to drama of the contemporary stage, the early modern world practiced 'arts of remembrance' at every turn. The turmoils of the Reformation and its aftermath transformed the habits of creating through remembrance. Ritually observed and radically reinvented, remembrance was a focal point of the early modern cultural imagination for an age when beliefs both crossed and divided communities of the faithful. The Arts of Remembrance in Early Modern England maps the new terrain of remembrance in the post-Reformation period, charting its negotiations with the material, the textual and the performative.
