Book excerpt: Jim and Teena Lacy volunteered for SOG (Special Operation Group) after Jim returned from Korea, where he served in the 187th Airborne, a Regimental Combat Team. After extensive training, they completed assignments in various parts of the world. This story covers their mission to verify intelligence reports that Russia had covertly moved Nuclear weapons and troops into Cuba. Their mission objectives were to confirm those reports and obtain photos for presenting to the Kremlin...when President Kennedy demands their removal. Time was a crucial factor, since America must prepare to destroy the facilities, before nuclear missiles can be launched. Russia-Cuba started the process of increasing coastal defenses for an anticipated US invasion, while they were on their mission. Since their covert mission required strict radio silence, they were un-aware of the military buildup within the region...until they reached their rendezvous point, where Seal Teams were awaiting to extract them. On arrival at the rendezvous point...a fierce battle erupted that resulted in critically wounded. That required shifting their Plan for Seal Teams aboard high-speed surface craft to extract those ashore. On their arrival in Florida, a meeting had been arranged in Miami for Pentagon leaders to review the data collected, and prepare for destroying all military bases in Cuba IF Russia refused to remove their missiles and troops. It is an action packed story with extensive covert actions. Additionally, it conveys the love (and passions) shared by Jim & Teena...that will be enjoyed by all. The last three chapters include surprise events, with an ending that will surprise everyone. Prior to their Cuban mission, Jim & Teena were on other covert mission assignments in the Middle East, Colombia and Brazil, that was covered in a prior book named "Living on the Edge".

Book excerpt: Bedtime Stories for Grown-ups is a collection of 20 bedtime stories for adults from the 'Dan Jones Hypnosis' YouTube channel. The bedtime stories have been created in a way that encourages sleep and promotes wellbeing, helping with stress, anxiety and worry, three of the main areas behind many sleep problems, so, these bedtime stories are ideal for stressed out adults or those who find they worry or overthink when they should be falling asleep. These sleep stories for adults can be read by the person who wants to fall asleep, or read to someone to help them fall asleep, or audio recorded for personal use to help you fall asleep. Each bedtime story is a transcript of a 20-35 minute long hypnotic healing bedtime story. For most of human history storytelling helped people to share knowledge and wisdom while inspiring change and creativity. Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of verbal hypnosis. Stories stimulate and access the dreaming brain allowing people to update their neurology with new learning to change thinking, behaviours and responses to life events. Somewhere along the way storytelling became associated with children, it was seen as odd if you were an adult who said you liked listening to stories. This has now started to change, adults listening to stories and reading bedtime stories is on the rise. Dan Jones has over 20 years experience using storytelling as a form of therapy and to help people sleep, he also has a successful YouTube channel 'Dan Jones Hypnosis' with over 100 hypnotic healing bedtime stories for adults and over 20 sleep stories for children.

So romantic is the moon on a dark night in this cocoon ... Mary Elizabeth Lee, known for her strong and consistent voice, shares her third collection of poems that experiment with new forms for the first time. In a compilation that varies between free verse, rhymed tercets, and prose, Lee explores a variety of relatable subjects that include the humorous banter between a husband and wife, the art of waiting for a much-anticipated visit, the wisdom that comes from measuring knowledge against experience, the peace that comes with the sounds of rain falling softly on a tin roof, the beauty surrounding the laws of nature, the acts of an aggressive sparrow determined to do whats right for its family and country, and the uncertainty that accompanies a fierce windstorm. In a Quiet Moment shares lyrical verse from a seasoned poet that leads others on a poignant journey through life, nature, and love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The decisive victories in the fight for racial equality in America were not easily won, much less inevitable; they were achieved through carefully conceived strategy and the work of tireless individuals dedicated to this most urgent struggle. In We Face the Dawn, Margaret Edds tells the gripping story of how the South's most significant grassroots legal team challenged the barriers of racial segregation in mid-century America. Virginians Oliver Hill and Spottswood Robinson initiated and argued one of the five cases that combined into the landmark Brown v. Board of Education, but their influence extends far beyond that momentous ruling. They were part of a small brotherhood, headed by social-justice pioneer Thurgood Marshall and united largely through the Howard Law School, who conceived and executed the NAACP’s assault on racial segregation in education, transportation, housing, and voting. Hill and Robinson’s work served as a model for southern states and an essential underpinning for Brown. When the Virginia General Assembly retaliated with laws designed to disbar the two lawyers and discredit the NAACP, they defiantly carried the fight to the United States Supreme Court and won. At a time when numerous schools have resegregated and the prospects of many minority children appear bleak, Hill and Robinson’s remarkably effective campaign against various forms of racial segregation can inspire a new generation to embrace educational opportunity as the birthright of every American child.
