Relata tambem diversos convenios em execucao, as atividades de difusao e transferencia de tecnologia, bem como uma serie de atividades direta ou indiretamente relacionadas com as atividades de pesquisa. Este relatorio objetiva apresentar a Empresa, como um todo, a sua Diretoria, em particular, e a sociedade, em geral, uma prestacao de contas de suas atividades no sentido de proporcionar o desenvolvimento sustentavel do Pantanal.

Book excerpt: A Embrapa Pantanal tem cumprido sua missao, apesar das limitacoes de recursos humanos e financeiros, gerando informacoes e conhecimentos que precisam ser colocados a disposicao da sociedade Pantaneira para promover seu desenvolvimento de forma sustentada. Neste documento temos a satisfacao de apresentar, de forma sucinta, as acoes empreendidas e os resultados obtidos nos anos de 1995 e 1996, quando foram conduzidos 12 projetos de pesquisa com 36 subprojetos. A fazenda Nhumirim, de propriedade da Embrapa, foi a principal area de trabalho. Contamos tambem com a colaboracao de inumeros fazendeiros que cederam area, animais e pessoal de campo para o desenvolvimento de trabalhos em suas propriedades. A todos nosso reconhecimento. O trabalho de pesquisa exige parcerias. A Embrapa Pantanal tem se empenhado neste sentido e obtido sucesso junto aos fazendeiros, aos outros centros da propria Embrapa e junto as universidades e orgaos estaduais de pesquisa e extensao. Os resultados aqui apresentados sao fruto tambem dessa interacao. Nossa missao inclui tambem a transferencia dos conhecimentos e tecnologias gerados. Temos muito o que fazer nesta area. Precisamos da ajuda dos orgaos de extensao rural e, sobretudo, precisamos realizar um tremendo esforco para encurtar a distancia entre a pesquisa e os usuarios, os produtores. Mas entendemos que este esforco tem que ser mutuo, precisamos ir aos produtores e os produtores precisam vir ate nos. O presente relatorio e parte deste esforco. Aqui nossas acoes, e nossos resultados, relatados em linguagem pouco tecnica, dao conta do nosso trabalho em prol do desenvolvimento sustentado do Pantanal. Gostariamos de, ao apresentar este trabalho, fazer um convite ao querido leitor que, para, juntos formarmos um pacto para implementarmos acoes em prol do desenvolvimento sustentavel de nossa regiao.

O CPAP contou, neste ano, com recursos financeiros oriundos do Tesouro Nacional e de outras fontes, tais como CECITEC, Fundacao O Boticario, Conservation International, WWF e PROMOAGRO, os quais possibilitaram a conducao dos trabalhos de pesquisa e a manutencao da infraestrutura do Centro. Este relatorio apresenta de forma resumida todas as atividades relacionadas com a vida do CPAP durante o ano de 1993, visando das conhecimento a sociedade. Informacoes tecnicas mais detalhadas poderao ser encontradas nos trabalhos listados neste documento ou atraves de informacoes colhidas diretamente junto aos pesquisadores ou junto ao setor de Difusao e Transferencia de Tecnologia. Ha inumeras barreiras que o CPAP tem vencido para cumprir plenamente sua missao. Desde as dificuldades naturais inerentes a propria regiao do Pantanal, afastamento dos principais centros urbanos, transporte, comunicacao, ate os entraves burocraticos. No entanto, o CPAP esta se consubstanciando como um Centro de referencia de conhecimentos sobre a regiao.
