Book Synopsis Numerical Simulation of Reactive Flow by : Elaine S. Oran
Download or read book Numerical Simulation of Reactive Flow written by Elaine S. Oran and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reactive flows encompass a broad range of physical phenomena, interacting over many different time and space scales. Such flows occur in combustion, chemical lasers, the earth's oceans and atmosphere, and stars and interstellar space. Despite the obvious physical differences in these flows, there is a striking similarity in the forms of their descriptive equations. Thus, the considerations and procedures for constructing numerical models of these systems are also similar, and these similarities can be exploited. Moreover, using the latest technology, what were once difficult and expensive computations can now be done on desktop computers. This book takes account of the explosive growth in computer technology and the greatly increased capacity for solving complex reactive flow problems that have occurred since the first edition of Numerical Simulation of Reactive Flow was published in 1987. It presents algorithms useful for reactive flow simulations, describes trade-offs involved in their use, and gives guidance for building and using models of complex reactive flows.

Book Synopsis Thermal-Hydraulics of Water Cooled Nuclear Reactors by : Francesco D'Auria
Download or read book Thermal-Hydraulics of Water Cooled Nuclear Reactors written by Francesco D'Auria and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-18 with total page 1200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermal Hydraulics of Water-Cooled Nuclear Reactors reviews flow and heat transfer phenomena in nuclear systems and examines the critical contribution of this analysis to nuclear technology development. With a strong focus on system thermal hydraulics (SYS TH), the book provides a detailed, yet approachable, presentation of current approaches to reactor thermal hydraulic analysis, also considering the importance of this discipline for the design and operation of safe and efficient water-cooled and moderated reactors. Part One presents the background to nuclear thermal hydraulics, starting with a historical perspective, defining key terms, and considering thermal hydraulics requirements in nuclear technology. Part Two addresses the principles of thermodynamics and relevant target phenomena in nuclear systems. Next, the book focuses on nuclear thermal hydraulics modeling, covering the key areas of heat transfer and pressure drops, then moving on to an introduction to SYS TH and computational fluid dynamics codes. The final part of the book reviews the application of thermal hydraulics in nuclear technology, with chapters on V&V and uncertainty in SYS TH codes, the BEPU approach, and applications to new reactor design, plant lifetime extension, and accident analysis. This book is a valuable resource for academics, graduate students, and professionals studying the thermal hydraulic analysis of nuclear power plants and using SYS TH to demonstrate their safety and acceptability. - Contains a systematic and comprehensive review of current approaches to the thermal-hydraulic analysis of water-cooled and moderated nuclear reactors - Clearly presents the relationship between system level (top-down analysis) and component level phenomenology (bottom-up analysis) - Provides a strong focus on nuclear system thermal hydraulic (SYS TH) codes - Presents detailed coverage of the applications of thermal-hydraulics to demonstrate the safety and acceptability of nuclear power plants

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pressurized Water Reactors, Volume Three in the JSME Series on Thermal and Nuclear Power Generation, compiles the latest research on Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) into a very comprehensive reference, beginning with its history. The reader is then guided through optimum design processes for PWRs, considering safety throughout. The authors then discuss thermal-hydraulic aspects within the PWR system and inside the reactor core, making this a valuable resource for nuclear and thermal engineers and researchers. Combining their wealth of experience, the book presents in-depth knowledge on the advancement and improvement of fuel rods that is gleaned from decades of experience and lessons learned. The inclusion of analysis codes for the design and safety elements ensure makes this a unique reference which will provide the reader with a solid understanding which they can transfer to their own professional and research settings. Future prospects for next generation PWR and Small Modular Reactors are also discussed, giving the reader a basis for further research of their own. - Contains contributions from the leaders and pioneers in nuclear research at the Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers and draws upon their combined wealth of knowledge and experience - Includes analysis codes, such as RELAP5, for the design and safety improvement of pressurized water reactors (PWRs) - Presents history, examples, and case studies from Japan and other key regions, such as the United States and Europe

Book Synopsis Thermal Analysis of Pressurized Water Reactors by : Long-sun Tong
Download or read book Thermal Analysis of Pressurized Water Reactors written by Long-sun Tong and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic objective of this book is to present the principles underlying the thermal and hydraulic design of pressurized water reactors. In addition, the empirical data, engineering properties, and computer techniques required for design, but not available in conventional handbooks, are presented or referenced. Because of the many advances and changes that have occurred since the second edition, extensive improvements in both understanding the phenomena involved and in calculational techniques are reflected in the substantial additions to this third edition. Also, an additional chapter has been added to accommodate the many developments in the area of safety analysis.
