Imaginer que les élèves durant leurs 12 années de scolarité soient capables de reconstruire intuitivement les lois, les concepts et les principes universels qui régissent la matière réelle (vivante et inerte), que les savants ont mis des siècles à découvrir, est un leurre. Ces responsables dénoncent la perte des méthodes d'apprentissage de la "magie des nombres" au seul profit de la "magie des mots", alors que ces deux magies doivent se compléter dans la formation cognitive des jeunes enfants. Une confusion s'est mise en place entre la "vulgarisation de la Science" et "la formation d'un esprit scientifique". Ainsi, ils rappellent que l'interdisciplinarité est un objectif et non une méthode. Les élèves doivent aussi, à leur tour, être initiés aux fondamentaux scientifiques (solfège) avant d'essayer de comprendre voire d'écrire la symphonie de l'interdisciplinarité. Sinon le risque est grand dans ce domaine d'étude d'être superficiel, de réinventer la roue et ... de stériliser l'avenir. Enfin, et avant d'avoir tous été transformés en "avatars numériques" par le système économique actuel, ils rappellent les trois compétences majeures d'un enseignant scientifique : Talent, Passion et Rigueur. L'enseignant est un modèle, il porte les valeurs humanistes de la francophonie et il est le garant de l'éthique scientifique et sociétale."--Page 4 de couverture.
