Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his powerful autobiography, Reflections of Challenges and Triumphs, first-time author Lincoln Wallace offers an introspective glance into his life’s journey from suffering to triumph. Living an emotionally impoverished childhood, filled with self-abnegation and doubt, Lincoln could have gone on a downward spiral. Instead, paying heed to his own inner voice and holding fast to his dreams, he lifted himself out of the toxicity of negative beliefs and erroneous misconceptions about his personhood and his destiny - which, he ultimately discovered, only he could define. Latching on to his natural gift for the martial arts, Lincoln learned the art of respectful self-defense. Through seeking – and encountering - the best part of himself, he continuously reaches out as a guide and mentor to his admiring family members and students. He especially wants the disenfranchised, marginalized youth of our society to understand that they can lift themselves up – even if circumstances aren’t ideal or they don’t have role models to emulate, and even if they are told that they are not good enough. Such heartless criticisms – outright falsehoods - were meted upon Lincoln by his mother, who berated and downgraded him. Nonetheless, he pursued – and achieved – his objective of “becoming someone,” enriching lives in the process. “I want kids to know that if I did it, they can do it, too. What good is having experiences and gaining knowledge, if lessons can’t be shared?” the author observes. His story demonstrates that, no matter how downcast a heart may be, hope inheres in self-belief, holding one’s head high, having faith in a brighter dawn, and knowing, with every breath, that such will come.

Book excerpt: Embark on an uplifting a journey through the compelling and motivational stories of people, just like you, who have encountered difficulty and emerged to flourish, rather than fold in the face of challenge. Many people talk about "desirable disadvantages" or "formative adversity," yet in the midst of hard things, before we receive the learning and insight, we all inevitably wonder how and if we'll make it through. The Big 3 C's (Challenge, Change, and Complexity) are the very fabric of every human experience, yet when these moments show up in our lives, they are often the exact opposite experiences we wish to encounter. We are all resilient. Resilience is the essence of being human. We all also have resilience stories. Yet, the resilience stories that are our superpower, our defining moments that have led to triumph and transformation, often remain hidden, untold, until now! The inspiring stories of the curated authors in this book, Triumphs of Transformation: Stories of Resilience, think Chicken Soup for the Soul meets real life stories of resilience, reveals the strategies and principles that successful people have employed to overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and excel in their personal and professional lives. Learn about the unwavering determination and innovative approaches that enabled these leaders to emerge stronger than before. From overcoming personal hardships to navigating complex business landscapes, their stories will empower you to embrace change, cultivate resilience, and pursue your aspirations with renewed vigor. Discover how these remarkable people harnessed the power of resilience not just to recover from setbacks but to "bounce forward," propelling themselves to new heights, despite the challenges they faced. Each chapter offers invaluable insights and actionable advice, showing you how to apply these lessons to your own life. Through the courageous willingness to demonstrate immense vulnerability and authenticity, there is an even more powerful of lesson: Sharing our resilience stories with one another is the greatest form of human alchemy. When we retell our stories of the Big 3 C's, after healing and reflection, we effectively transmute the darkest times of our lives into a light that shines out into the world, onto other people's paths, piercing the hopelessness and serving as a signpost of encouragement. The stories in Triumphs of Transformation reminds us that the challenge you have, are, or will face is not the "period" punctuating the end of the sentence of your life, it is the "comma," inviting you to write the next sentence of your existence. These stories of both well-known and every day people remind us, even in our darkest times, that hope is only one story away, we can, in the words of Brene Brown, all be part of one another's survival guides, and that not a single drop of pain or misfortunate is wasted in our formation. Not to mention the reminder that if they made it, you can too! Triumphs of Transformation is more than a book--it's a blueprint for turning adversity into opportunity and for cultivating both a skillset and a mindset of unyielding resilience. Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, a seasoned professional, or someone seeking personal growth, this collection will inspire you to achieve the success you desire. Dive into these transformative tales and let them ignite your own journey towards triumph and transformation. Overcome your obstacles. Embrace your potential. Transform your life.

Book excerpt: Biography of William H. Pickering, 1910-2004 On the first day of February 1958, three men held aloft a model of Explorer 1, America's first Earth satellite, for the press photographers. That image of William Pickering, Wernher von Braun, and James Van Allen became an icon for America's response to the Sputnik challenge. Von Braun and Van Allen were well known, but who was Pickering? From humble beginnings in a remote country town in New Zealand, Pickering came to California in 1928 and quickly established himself as an outstanding student at the then-new California Institute of Technology (Caltech). At Caltech, Pickering worked under the famous physicist Robert Millikan on cosmic-ray experiments, at that time a relatively new field of physics. In 1944, when Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) was developing rocket propulsion systems for the U.S. Army, Pickering joined the work-force as a technical manager. He quickly established himself as an outstanding leader, and 10 years later, Caltech named him Director of JPL. And then, suddenly, the world changed. In October 1957, the Sputnik satellite startled the world with its spectacular demonstration of Soviet supremacy in space. Pickering led an intense JPL effort that joined with the von Braun and Van Allen teams to answer the Soviet challenge. Eighty-three days later, on 31 January 1958, America's first satellite roared into Earth orbit. A few months after that, Pickering's decision to affiliate JPL with the newly formed National Aeronautics and Space Administration set the basis for his subsequent career and the future of NASA's ambitious program for the exploration of the solar system. In the early days of the space program, failure followed failure as Pickering and his JPL team slowly ascended the learning curve. Eventually, however, NASA and JPL resolve paid off. First the Moon, then Venus, and then Mars yielded their scientific mysteries to JPL spacecraft of ever-increasing sophistication. Within its first decade, JPL-built spacecraft sent back the first close-up photographs of the lunar surface, while others journeyed far beyond the Moon to examine Venus and return the first close-up views of the surface of Mars. Later, even more complex space missions made successful soft-landings on the Moon and on Mars. Pickering's sudden death in March 2004 at the age of 93 was widely reported in the U.S. and overseas. As one NASA official eulogized him, His pioneering work formed the foundation upon which the current program for exploring our solar system was built. On this, the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Space Age, it is proper to remind ourselves of the ordinary people who met the extraordinary challenge to make it happen. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a daily devotional of the prophecies from the Old Testament fulfilled throughout history. The foretelling from these prophets is historically accurate. Most are fulfilled by Jesus Christ alone. Jesus talks about fulfilling the Law and the prophets. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that He had not come to abolish the Law or the prophets but to fulfill them (Matthew 5:17). Scripture tells of prophets, their warnings, and their prophecies. Some spoke of good things to come, while others described desperate times. The fact that Jesus fulfilled the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings reminds us that the Word of God is true, steadfast, and eternal. God is active in every moment. Prophets foretold the birth of Jesus and how He would face trials, disappointment, the unbelief of the people, torture, and death on the cross. Scripture tells how Jesus would rise on the third day and ascend into Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. Through each word spoken and each action, Jesus showed what would happen. Jesus knew that the plan of His Father was the best. By reading and studying the Word of God, we learn that everything Jesus said would happen is true. Although not all prophecies have been fulfilled yet, Christians know that the day is coming when Jesus will return.
