Au total, 39 échantillons provenant de 37 articles ont été inclus, ce qui représente 738 enfants victimes de négligence, 968 enfants victimes d'abus physiques, 258 victimes d'abus sexuels et 1 847 enfants non exposés à la maltraitance. Les analyses révèlent une association significative d'ampleur moyenne entre les différents sous-types d'abus et le développement socio-émotionnel (d = - 0,482 ; p = 0,00) et que les enfants victimes d'abus physiques présentent un développement socio-émotionnel moins optimal que les enfants victimes de négligence (d = - 0,582 et d = - 0,440, respectivement; p = 0,043). De surcroit, une analyse de modérateurs a été réalisée afin de tenir compte de l'influence de différentes variables (âge, informateurs et difficultés d'ordre comportemental) dans les associations observées.

They protect the wounded and sick on the battlefield, those wounded, sick or shipwrecked at sea, prisoners of war, and civilians in time of war. However, since they were adopted warfare has changed considerably. In this groundbreaking commentary over sixty international law experts investigate the application of the Geneva Conventions and explain how they should be interpreted today. It places the Conventions in the light of the developing obligations imposed by international law on states, armed groups, and individuals, most notably through international human rights law and international criminal law.
