Book Synopsis Recrystallization and Grain Growth by : B. Bacroix
Download or read book Recrystallization and Grain Growth written by B. Bacroix and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 1430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recrystallization and grain growth, together with phase transformations such as precipitation, are the fundamental processes of microstructural evolution which take place during the thermomechanical processing of engineering materials. They are of major scientific interest and are of great importance in a wide range of industrial applications. One of the main goals of this two-volume set is to show how to cover the entire set of reactions governing recrystallization and grain growth during industrial processing - termed through process modelling. At the same time, it is important to improve the understanding of the basic mechanisms involved in transformations such as nucleation during recrystallization, grain boundary migration under the influence of various forces, and boundary interactions with solute atoms and particles. In this area, modelling plays a major - but happily not yet exclusive - role. These fundamental aspects are also treated in detail in this comprehensive work. The reader will be able to find within these two volumes a wealth of up-to-date papers describing current issues, concepts, techniques and results which will, in turn, improve his understanding of recrystallization and grain growth.
Book Synopsis Textures of Materials : ICOTOM 14 by : Paul van Houtte
Download or read book Textures of Materials : ICOTOM 14 written by Paul van Houtte and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 888 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To the materials science community, Texture is an important property which describes the relative orientations of the various material elements which constitute the microstructure. These elements are usually the crystalline grains; each with a different orientation of its crystal lattice. However, morphological textures, such as the arrangement of fibers in a composite material, also have to be considered. In rare cases, the texture is random; with all possible orientations being equally represented in the material. But, usually, processing of the material has caused the texture to become non-random; with a consequent anisotropy of the material properties. Thus, not only metallurgists and materials scientists take an interest in textures, but also physicists, mathematicians, geologists, mechanical engineers and others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An expert exposition of the structural and mechanical properties of light alloys and composites, bridging the gap between scientists and industrial engineers in its consideration of advanced light materials, their structure, properties, technology and application. Includes basic problems of alloy constitution and phase transformations. The aluminium alloys are the main topic of the book, consideration being given to their properties, casting technology, thermomechanical treatment and structure. Attention is also given to the magnesium alloys, particularly those having rare earth metal constituents. Both commercial titanium alloys and intermetallic compounds are discussed, as are metallic composites. The latest engineering techniques are discussed in both theoretical and practical terms.
Download or read book Titanium Alloys written by Maciej Motyka and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-11-27 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Titanium alloys, due to unique physical and chemical properties (mainly high relative strength combined with very good corrosion resistance), are considered as an important structural metallic material used in hi-tech industries (e.g. aerospace, space technology). This book provides information on new manufacturing and processing methods of single- and two-phase titanium alloys. The eight chapters of this book are distributed over four sections. The first section (Introduction) indicates the main factors determining application areas of titanium and its alloys. The second section (Manufacturing, two chapters) concerns modern production methods for titanium and its alloys. The third section (Thermomechanical and surface treatment, three chapters) covers problems of thermomechanical processing and surface treatment used for single- and two-phase titanium alloys. The fourth section (Machining, two chapters) describes the recent results of high speed machining of Ti-6Al-4V alloy and the possibility of application of sustainable machining for titanium alloys.
Download or read book Copper written by Jean-Marie Welter and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2006 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Copper was since ever the companion of the development of mankind. Notwithstanding this long history, copper as we know it today is a rather young material. Indeed, the discovery and use of electricity during the 19th century led to a repositioning of copper and opened fantastic opportunities. It started a new career as the metal for generating, transporting and using energy, power and information. This book contains the Proceedings of the International Conference "Copper ?06." It gives a broad and up-to-date overview on the recent progress in research and development of copper and copper alloys for usage in modern industrial applications. The current challenges and changes in the international copper industry are also highlighted and the reader gets insight in the driving forces on the international copper market.

Book Synopsis Extractive Metallurgy of Nickel, Cobalt and Platinum Group Metals by : Frank Crundwell
Download or read book Extractive Metallurgy of Nickel, Cobalt and Platinum Group Metals written by Frank Crundwell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-07-18 with total page 623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes and explains the methods by which three related ores and recyclables are made into high purity metals and chemicals, for materials processing. It focuses on present day processes and future developments rather than historical processes. Nickel, cobalt and platinum group metals are key elements for materials processing. They occur together in one book because they (i) map together on the periodic table (ii) occur together in many ores and (iii) are natural partners for further materials processing and materials manufacturing. They all are, for example, important catalysts – with platinum group metals being especially important for reducing car and truck emissions. Stainless steels and CoNiFe airplane engine super alloys are examples of practical usage. The product emphasises a sequential, building-block approach to the subject gained through the author's previous writings (particularly Extractive Metallurgy of Copper in four editions) and extensive experience. Due to the multiple metals involved and because each metal originates in several types of ore – e.g. tropical ores and arctic ores this necessitates a multi-contributor work drawing from multiple networks and both engineering and science. - Synthesizes detailed review of the fundamental chemistry and physics of extractive metallurgy with practical lessons from industrial consultancies at the leading international plants - Discusses Nickel, Cobalt and Platinum Group Metals for the first time in one book - Reviews extraction of multiple metals from the same tropical or arctic ore - Industrial, international and multidisciplinary focus on current standards of production supports best practice use of industrial resources
