It will be seen from the Letters themselves, that, at the time they were written, the author had no intention ever to republish them. He had furnished a letter, embracing some interesting incidents relating to the introduction and progress Of Methodism in the west, for the Western Christian Advocate - rand this, which will be found in its appropriate place in this volume, excited so much interest, as to-induce a formal appli cation from the corresponding secretary of the Western Methodist Historical Society for further details, which were cheerfully given, and subsequently published.
