Download or read book Theories And Experiences For Real-time System Development written by Charles Rattray and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-14 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our understanding of real-time systems is rapidly approaching a level of maturity which calls for a consolidation of our present knowledge and experience. Particularly effective in influencing our understanding has been the conjoining of universal algebra with the theory and practice of real-time system development. This interplay between algebraic methodology and software technology (AMAST) for real-time systems is the theme for this text. Each chapter, derived from papers presented at the all-invitation 1st AMAST International Workshop on Real-Time Systems (Iowa, 1993), is written by leaders in their field. The chapters form an intriguing mix of modeling, specification, verification, and implementation of “real” real-time systems. They cover untimed and timed systems, sequential, concurrent and embedded real-time processes, integrated models using state machines, temporal logic and algebraic data models, real-time CSP, verification tools, system design using temporal logic, symbolic checking of discrete time models, iterative symbolic approximation in timing verification and verification of audio protocols, timed full LOTOS and timed LOTOS extensions, LOTOS specification of telephone services and flight warning computers, and performance analysis.

Book Synopsis Implementing Real-time Reactive Systems from Object-oriented Design Specifications by : Lizhong Zhang
Download or read book Implementing Real-time Reactive Systems from Object-oriented Design Specifications written by Lizhong Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real-time reactive systems are among the most difficult systems to design and implement because of their size and complex functional and timing requirements. TROMLAB is a framework for a rigorous development of consistent design that satisfy an authoritative specification of requirements, validate the design through simulation, and verify the design for safety properties through a formal verifier. This thesis adds one more significant component to TROMLAB by providing a methodology for automatic generation of code in real-time Java for reactive systems designed in TROMLAB framework. The correctness and efficiency of the implementation are illustrated on the implementation of the design for a generalized rail-road crossing problem, a bench-mark case study in the real-time systems community.

Book Synopsis Design Methods for Reactive Systems by : R. J. Wieringa
Download or read book Design Methods for Reactive Systems written by R. J. Wieringa and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-01-09 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design Methods for Reactive Systems describes methods and techniques for the design of software systems—particularly reactive software systems that engage in stimulus-response behavior. Such systems, which include information systems, workflow management systems, systems for e-commerce, production control systems, and embedded software, increasingly embody design aspects previously considered alone—such as complex information processing, non-trivial behavior, and communication between different components—aspects traditionally treated separately by classic software design methodologies. But, as this book illustrates, the software designer is better served by the ability to intelligently pick and choose from among a variety of techniques according to the particular demands and properties of the system under development. Design Methods for Reactive Systems helps the software designer meet today's increasingly complex challenges by bringing together specification techniques and guidelines proven useful in the design of a wide range of software systems, allowing the designer to evaluate and adapt different techniques for different projects. Written in an exceptionally clear and insightful style, Design Methods for Reactive Systems is a book that students, engineers, teachers, and researchers will undoubtedly find of great value. Shows how the techniques and design approaches of the three most popular design methods can be combined in a flexible, problem-driven manner. Pedagogical features include summaries, rehearsal questions, exercises, discussion questions, and numerous case studies.

Book Synopsis Specification and Design Methodology for Real-Time Embedded Systems by : Randall S. Janka

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specification and design methodology has seen significant growth as a research area over the last decade, tracking but lagging behind VLSI design technology in general and the CAD industry in particular. The commercial rush to market tries to leverage existing technology which fuels CAD design tool development. Paralleling this is very active basic and applied research to investigate and move forward rational and effective methodologies for accomplishing digital design, especially in the field of hardware/software codesign. It is this close relationship between industry and academia that makes close cooperation between researchers and practitioners so important-and monographs like this that combine both abstract concept and pragmatic implementation deftly bridge this often gaping chasm. It was at the IEEE/ACM Eighth International Symposium on Hardware/Software Codesign where I met the author of this monograph, Dr. Randall Janka, who was presenting some of his recent dissertation research results on specification and design methodology, or as he has so succinctly defined this sometimes ambiguous concept, "the tools and rules." Where so many codesign researchers are trying to prove out different aspects of codesign and using toy applications to do so, Dr. Janka had developed a complete specification and design methodology and prototyped the infrastructure-and proven its viability, utility, and effectiveness using a demanding real-world application of a real-time synthetic aperture radar imaging processor that was implemented with embedded parallel processors.
