This book was released on 2006 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides an approach for achieving the technical consistency of probabilistic safety assessments (PSAs) needed to support various PSA applications. The approach involves the consideration of a set of technical features, called attributes, of the major PSA elements relevant for various applications.
Book Synopsis Reliability Assurance for Regulation of Advanced Reactors by :
Download or read book Reliability Assurance for Regulation of Advanced Reactors written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The advanced nuclear power plants must achieve higher levels of safety than the first generation of plants. Showing that this is indeed true provides new challenges to reliability and risk assessment methods in the analysis of the designs employing passive and semi-passive protection. Reliability assurance of the advanced reactor systems is important for determining the safety of the design and for determining the plant operability. Safety is the primary concern, but operability is considered indicative of good and safe operation. This paper discusses several concerns for reliability assurance of the advanced design encompassing reliability determination, level of detail required in advanced reactor submittals, data for reliability assurance, systems interactions and common cause effects, passive component reliability, PRA-based configuration control system, and inspection, training, maintenance and test requirements. Suggested approaches are provided for addressing each of these topics.
Book Synopsis Safety Systems Reliability by : Arthur Eric Green

Book excerpt: Examines the safety and reliability of automatic protective systems from the initial design phase through complete operation of the system within the plant. Focuses on the protective system used in nuclear reactors. Discusses the importance of independent safety and reliability assessments for evaluation of the system. Examines how human influence factors affect reliability. Compares the accuracy of the reliability prediction for characteristics such as the failure rate of equipment with actual field operating data.
Book Synopsis Safety Assessment for Research Reactors and Preparation of the Safety Analysis Report by : IAEA
Download or read book Safety Assessment for Research Reactors and Preparation of the Safety Analysis Report written by IAEA and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2022-08-24 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Safety Guide provides recommendations on the safety assessment for research reactors in the authorization process, and on performance of safety analysis and preparation of the safety analysis report. It also incorporates the relevant lessons learned from the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant and elaborates guidance on interfaces between nuclear safety and nuclear security. The recommendations in this Safety Guide are intended for operating organizations of research reactors; it can also be used by designers performing a safety assessment for a research reactor. Furthermore, this guide provides useful guidance for regulatory bodies performing a review and assessment of submitted safety analysis reports as an important document within authorization process. This Safety Guide is a revision of IAEA Safety Standards Series No. SSG-20, which it supersedes.
Book Synopsis Application of Probabilistic Methods for the Safety Assessment and the Reliable Operation of Research Reactors by : IAEA
Download or read book Application of Probabilistic Methods for the Safety Assessment and the Reliable Operation of Research Reactors written by IAEA and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2023-05-11 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Probabilistic methods are increasingly being used to complement deterministic methods in assessing the safety and ensuring the reliability of research reactors. Addressing features specific to research reactors, this publication suggests a practical approach for the development and implementation of a project using probabilistic methods in terms of objective, scope, data and modelling, as well as the application of results to enhance safety and reliability. This publication is intended to be used by operating organizations, regulatory bodies and technical support organizations when performing or reviewing research reactor assessments in which probabilistic methods are applied. It will ideally be read in conjunction with relevant IAEA Safety Standards Series publications and technical guidelines for safety analysis, operation and maintenance, and component reliability data for research reactors.
