Download or read book Revolution written by Jakob Ejersbo and published by MacLehose Press. This book was released on 2012-08-30 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revolution is a collection of eleven short stories that act as a vital bridge between the novels Exile and Liberty. But it is also so much more than that. Ejersbo had a remarkable and unaffected talent for getting inside the heads of his characters: Moses, a worker in a Tanzanite mine who lives in hope of striking it rich; Sofie, a Greenlander who joins a French conman on his trip around the world; Rachel, who tries to make a life for herself in a city where everyone sees her as a whore in waiting. You feel that Ejerbso could have written from the heart of every person living in Tanzania; and that you could go on reading them forever.

Marketing, 4th edition, will provide the skills vital to successfully engaging with marketing across all areas of society, from dealing with skeptical consumers, moving a business online, and deciding which pricing strategy to adopt, through to the ethical implications of marketing to children, and being aware of how to use social networking sites to a business advantage. Theory into practice boxes relate these examples back the theoretical frameworks, models, and concepts outlined in the chapter, giving a fully integrated overview of not just what marketing theory looks like in practice, but how it can be used to promote a company's success. Video interviews with those in the industry offer a truly unique insight into the fascinating world of a marketing practitioner. For the fourth edition, the authors speak to a range of companies, from Withers Worldwide to Aston Martin, the City of London Police to Spotify, asking marketing professionals to talk you through how they dealt with a marketing problem facing their company. Review and discussion questions conclude each chapter, prompting readers to examine the themes discussed in more detail and encouraging them to engage critically with the theory. Links to seminal papers throughout each chapter also present the opportunity to take learning further. Book Synopsis Ritual Participation and Interreligious Dialogue by : Marianne Moyaert
Download or read book Ritual Participation and Interreligious Dialogue written by Marianne Moyaert and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-04-23 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shared ritual practices, multi-faith celebrations, and interreligious prayers are becoming increasingly common in the USA and Europe as more people experience religious diversity first hand. While ritual participation can be seen as a powerful expression of interreligious solidarity, it also carries with it challenges of a particularly sensitive nature. Though celebrating and worshiping together can enhance interreligious relations, cross-riting may also lead some believers to question whether it is appropriate to engage in the rituals of another faith community. Some believers may consider cross-ritual participation as inappropriate transgressive behaviour. Bringing together leading international contributors and voices from a number of religious traditions, Ritual Participation and Interreligious Dialogue delves into the complexities and intricacies of the phenomenon. They ask: what are the promises and perils of celebrating and praying together? What are the limits of ritual participation? How can we make sense of feelings of discomfort when entering the sacred space of another faith community? The first book to focus on the lived dimensions of interreligious dialogue through ritual participation rather than textual or doctrinal issues, this innovative volume opens an entirely new perspective.

The magazine carries authentic Islamic material for the Western-educated and/or West-influenced youth, presented in a creative manner, while yet highlighting the beliefs of the earliest predecessors and an understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah on the pattern of the great majority of Islamic scholars of the past, and of those prominent down to the present age. In view of the authentic nature of its contents, the magazine has been awarded license for distribution in Saudi Arabia. Besides the regular, monthly, production of the Young Muslim Digest, IQRA Publications has quite a few other Islamic titles to its credit. Each one of these books offer authentic material and cover topics that are not normally covered by other publishers. It is, perhaps, for this reason that they are popular even outside the country. When it comes to medical ethics, the economy, the environment, media, the arts, the place of women in society, political engagement, do Christians and Muslims have any views in common? Utilizing the writings of respected Muslim reformer Tariq Ramadan, Tom Wilson asks questions about what kind of friendship Christians and Muslims might have. Book Synopsis Sport Management Cultures by : Vassil Girginov
Download or read book Sport Management Cultures written by Vassil Girginov and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-06-11 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to address the link between culture and sport management. The aim is to demonstrate that culture profoundly affects how we research, teach and practice sport management. The book engages with the concept of culture both as an abstract analytical category and specific beliefs and practices. It recognizes that a single best way of managing does not exist; that the applicability of management theories may stop at national boundaries; and that fundamental cultural values act as a strong determinant to managerial ideology and practice. Culture makes the study of sport management interesting because it challenges many taken-for-granted assumptions about management, yet it reinforces our belief in the existence of common management problems. The book offers a comprehensive review of the conceptualisations of culture and its relation with sport management by examining a range of issues: the emergence of multiculturalism as a policy issue; the impact of commonly shared cultural values within the fitness industry on managers and organisations behaviour; building cultural bridges in community sport organisations; cultural meanings attached to the consumption of Olympic merchandise, and culturally-informed interpretation through a reflective analysis of sport management texts. This book was published as a special issue of European Sport Management Quarterly.
Book Synopsis Secularism and State Policies toward Religion by : Ahmet T. Kuru
Download or read book Secularism and State Policies toward Religion written by Ahmet T. Kuru and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-04-20 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do secular states pursue different policies toward religion? This book provides a generalizable argument about the impact of ideological struggles on the public policy making process, as well as a state-religion regimes index of 197 countries. More specifically, it analyzes why American state policies are largely tolerant of religion, whereas French and Turkish policies generally prohibit its public visibility, as seen in their bans on Muslim headscarves. In the United States, the dominant ideology is 'passive secularism', which requires the state to play a passive role, by allowing public visibility of religion. Dominant ideology in France and Turkey is 'assertive secularism', which demands that the state play an assertive role in excluding religion from the public sphere. Passive and assertive secularism became dominant in these cases through certain historical processes, particularly the presence or absence of an ancien régime based on the marriage between monarchy and hegemonic religion during state-building periods.
