Book Synopsis Radiation Sensitivity of Soluble Polysilane Derivatives: Science and Applications by : R. D. Miller
Download or read book Radiation Sensitivity of Soluble Polysilane Derivatives: Science and Applications written by R. D. Miller and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polysilane derivatives have very unusual electronic properties associated with extensive sigma delocalization along the polymer backbone. Strong electronic transitions which depend on the nature of the substituents, the polymer molecular weight and the conformation of the backbone appear in the UV. These materials are radiation sensitive and are degraded to lower molecular weight fragments upon exposure to light and ionizing radiation. This review attempts to overview the nature of these radiation induced processes and describes some potential applications primarily in the field of microlithography. Keywords: High molecular weight polysilanes; Radiation sensitivity. (jes).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polysilanes represent an interesting class of radiation sensitive polymers for which new applications have been discovered. Even though the polymer backbone is composed only of silicon silicon single bonds, all high molecular weight polysilanes absorb strongly in the UV. The position of this absorption depends not only on the nature of the substituents, but also on the conformation of the backbone. In this regard, materials where the polymer backbone is locked into a planar zigzag conformation absorb at much longer wavelengths than comparable materials where the backbone is either disordered or nonplaner (e.g., helical). A planar zigzag backbone is often observed for symmetrically substituted derivatives in the solid state when there are also significant intermolecular interactions such as side chain crystallization. These materials are strongly thermochromic. Keywords: Soluble polysilanes, Structure, Thermochromism, Polymer morphology.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Ion-Irradiated Polymers by : Dietmar Fink
Download or read book Fundamentals of Ion-Irradiated Polymers written by Dietmar Fink and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presented in two parts, this first comprehensive overview addresses all aspects of energetic ion irradiation of polymers. Earlier publications and review articles concentrated on selected topics only. And the need for such a work has grown with the dramatic increase of research and applications, such as in photoresists, waveguides, and medical dosimetry, during the last decade. The first part, Fundamentals of Ion Irradiation of Polymers covers the physical, chemical and instrumental fundamentals; treats the specific irradiation mechanisms of low- and high-energy ions (including similarities and differences); and details the potential for future technological application. All the new findings are carefully analyzed and presented in a systematic way, while open questions are identified.
Book Synopsis Silicon-based Polymer Science by : John Martin Zeigler
Download or read book Silicon-based Polymer Science written by John Martin Zeigler and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 836 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the first unified reference work for silicon-based polymers. It brings together in one volume research on the synthesis, properties, chemistry, electronic structure, applications, and technology of these materials. The volume is built around a series of critical overviews of these rapidly advancing fields and is supplemented by a substantial number of shorter papers that focus on current findings. It also provides insight into possible directions for future scientific and technological advances in the field.

Book Synopsis Advanced Organics for Electronic Substrates and Packages by : Andrew E Fletcher
Download or read book Advanced Organics for Electronic Substrates and Packages written by Andrew E Fletcher and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Organics for Electronic Substrates and Packages provides information on packaging, which is one of the most technologically intensive activities in the electronics industry. The electronics packaging community has realized that while semiconductor devices continue to be improved upon for performance, cost, and reliability, it is the interconnection or packaging of these devices that will limit the performance of the systems. Technology must develop packaging for transistor chips, with high levels of performance and integration providing cooling, power, and interconnection, and yet preserve the performance of the semiconductors with minimum package delay to the system. Trends in each of the major packaging technologies include chip level connection, providing the required connections between the chip and the semiconductor package. The power distribution to the chip and heat removal from the chip; first level packages providing all the necessary wiring; interconnections and power distribution; first-to-second level interconnections; and second level packages providing all the necessary wiring, connections, power distribution, and power supply connection are included as well. This book is a useful and informative reference to students or individuals studying or conducting research within the field of electronic engineering.
