This book was released on 1963 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis is presented for determining the heat transfer to a gray uniformly absorbing gas enclosed in a black circular pipe under the combined influence of radiation, gas flow, and conduction. The presence of distributed energy sources in the gas is also taken into account. Results are presented in terms of pertinent dimensionless parameters for heating a flowing gas by radiation emitted from isothermal pipe walls, and also for heating a flowing gas and the enclosing pipe walls by radiation emitted from a cylindrical heat-generating gaseous core in the center of the pipe, which situation is typical of a plasma jet, an electric jet, or a coaxial-flow gaseous reactor.
