Book Synopsis Theory of Approximation of Functions of a Real Variable by : A. F. Timan
Download or read book Theory of Approximation of Functions of a Real Variable written by A. F. Timan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-22 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of Approximation of Functions of a Real Variable discusses a number of fundamental parts of the modern theory of approximation of functions of a real variable. The material is grouped around the problem of the connection between the best approximation of functions to their structural properties. This text is composed of eight chapters that highlight the relationship between the various structural properties of real functions and the character of possible approximations to them by polynomials and other functions of simple construction. Each chapter concludes with a section containing various problems and theorems, which supplement the main text. The first chapters tackle the Weierstrass's theorem, the best approximation by polynomials on a finite segment, and some compact classes of functions and their structural properties. The subsequent chapters describe some properties of algebraic polynomials and transcendental integral functions of exponential type, as well as the direct theorems of the constructive theory of functions. These topics are followed by discussions of differential and constructive characteristics of converse theorems. The final chapters explore other theorems connecting the best approximations functions with their structural properties. These chapters also deal with the linear processes of approximation of functions by polynomials. The book is intended for post-graduate students and for mathematical students taking advanced courses, as well as to workers in the field of the theory of functions.

Book Synopsis Algebra, Complex Analysis, and Pluripotential Theory by : Zair Ibragimov
Download or read book Algebra, Complex Analysis, and Pluripotential Theory written by Zair Ibragimov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-11 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book features papers presented during a special session on algebra, functional analysis, complex analysis, and pluripotential theory. Research articles focus on topics such as slow convergence, spectral expansion, holomorphic extension, m-subharmonic functions, pseudo-Galilean group, involutive algebra, Log-integrable measurable functions, Gibbs measures, harmonic and analytic functions, local automorphisms, Lie algebras, and Leibniz algebras. Many of the papers address the theory of harmonic functions, and the book includes a number of extensive survey papers. Graduate and researchers interested in functional analysis, complex analysis, operator algebras and non-associative algebras will find this book relevant to their studies. The special session was part of the second USA-Uzbekistan Conference on Analysis and Mathematical Physics held on August 8-12, 2017 at Urgench State University (Uzbekistan). The conference encouraged communication and future collaboration among U.S. mathematicians and their counterparts in Uzbekistan and other countries. Main themes included algebra and functional analysis, dynamical systems, mathematical physics and partial differential equations, probability theory and mathematical statistics, and pluripotential theory. A number of significant, recently established results were disseminated at the conference’s scheduled plenary talks, while invited talks presented a broad spectrum of findings in several sessions. Based on a different session from the conference, Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems is also published in the Springer Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics Series.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the third published volume of the proceedings of the Israel Seminar on Geometric Aspects of Functional Analysis. The large majority of the papers in this volume are original research papers. There was last year a strong emphasis on classical finite-dimensional convexity theory and its connection with Banach space theory. In recent years, it has become evident that the notions and results of the local theory of Banach spaces are useful in solving classical questions in convexity theory. The present volume contributes to clarifying this point. In addition this volume contains basic contributions to ergodic theory, invariant subspace theory and qualitative differential geometry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern college undergraduates in America generally come to the classroom with no instruction at all in writing the traditional, lucid, formal essay. This small guide to college students will illustrate, clearly and logically, those principles of inquiry, curiosity, discovery, and enthusiasm which will vitalize their future academic careers and their lives as rational and thoughtful adults. A significant number of other texts have appeared over the past decades which also lead the freshman or sophomore student through the processes of doing research and analysis -both on the scientific and the historical method. Few, however, offer an adequate introduction to the new technical methods for identifying, recovering, and assembling relevant research information.
